You know what would be really cool to see on the announcements page?
Links to all the threads where introduced changes were announced and explained. Lots of pain sometimes (well not a lot really, but still very time-consuming sometimes) to find an explanation for changes briefly mentioned in announcements.
Sometimes there`s a link to them, but more often there isnt. And so you find something like "Welcome to the new season, we love you all, slipstreaming is introduced, as we announced before of forums", for instance, and there you go searching forums, and the thread called "slipstreaming" is not the "official" one where it was explained, blah-blah-blah.
The example above I actually made up, I dont remember what it was like digging that one up.
Oh c**k I dont like the feeling of being another newbie making suggestions ;)
E - I foresee people saying I`m lazy, well, c`mon these ones are "official', they should be easy to dig out, its not in any way a FOBY nor it could be. Every time there`s some FOBY stuff about the change implimented it says just so in a thread admins created.

I think the slipstreaming thread you find is as official as possible. And more generally, the "official" threads are usually user made after the announcement.

a good example as any other :)
well... it wasn't such a difficult thing to do and didn't really take much time. It goes as follows:
Season 25 calendar and slipstreaming
Another characteristic of races on oval tracks is the slipstreaming (drafting) used by cars which are near other cars. This will also be introduced for the new season, not only for ovals, but for all tracks. As a result slower cars may be able to follow the leaders as long as they are close enough, and overtakings will be somewhat easier.
This was in the official announcement. IMO it does explain it thoroughly enough

Announcements [see all announcements]
Quote ( Andrey Baydin @ April 17th 2014,06:09:37 ) explained. that announcement does explain it properly
Quote ( Andrey Baydin @ April 17th 2014,06:09:37 ) "official" one admin published announcement. It doesn't get more official than that

No wonder :) The link is right there on the front page, it's not hard to reach :)
ofc. there are several pages of official announcements, so you'd probably need to use the browsers search function to find the one you're looking for (CTRL+F in many browsers)

Oh god that was not at all what I was talking about really. :)
This is specifically the reason I said I made up the example. Should learn to phrase my thoughts better should I? :) Someday someday.
Again, the problem is not all of the changes are explained in announcements, and I know where these are, thanks a lot for reminding tho. Some changes are just mentioned like "this was done as we mentioned earlier", without links to the threads where they were announced in detail. On a couple of occasions I`ve spent quite a lot of time digging up what actually changed and in what way. And usually I found the answer in just random threads in the forum.
I mean, I do read through Elite forum, and scrolling through "hi there" and "great race Leandro" is something I`ve accepted, but I dont feel like it`s necessary for stuff I`m talking about.

So what you're actually suggesting is some kind of a "change-log" with short descriptions of the changes ?

Nothing mysterious about the Snail :) He played the old(blacklisted) game, then he moved to GPRO like many of us, won a few championships and quit when he was on top :) A very cool guy.

Poor man's version of GPRO which was bought by a player who gave all of his friends and those who represented a certain background an unfair advantage. Vlad still beat them all despite the powermad admin throwing everything at him.
That's based on my research, of course it's not first hand experience so i don't know the full story.

That's just sugar coating "made a dozen fake accounts and won a gazillion championships, while using the site to promote his questionable political views" :)
But it wouldn't be fair to say all the players in the beginning came from there, many were from other games too.

Quote ( Tomás Naranjo @ April 17th 2014,06:00:07 ) Share us events you remember..
Some managers i saw in rookie or amateur and i remembered some years later in higher groups like Heite Schaumann and Hauke Johannsen (i never was in contact with them, but you don't forget the managers of your country). And I wanted to be as good as the Aareskoski's etc... :D I can't remember much, because i was not that much into the game these times.

Rimantas :D

Quote ( Luke Frost @ April 17th 2014,17:22:52 ) Rimantas :D 18 days to his 16th bday when he started his first Elite race
I had 2 cases in mind I had to check:
* Nyhall Schnabel claimed to be the youngest at some point in his manager career, but he was 16 and 4 months old already when he started his first Elite race. Credit to Facebook for Nyhall's bday :D * Michał Kożuchowski was 16 years and 18 days old when he promoted to Elite.
None of them younger than Agas, so we might keep looking to see if we discover a younger manager @Elite :)

Elite records?
Only Elite record I can claim is probably being the first Swiss to reach Elite?
Have to say I regret that I didn't make an impact there...
But I am still proud enough I made it that far:D

Miss Monteiro was about 13, and Jari Tapani would have been about 9 (though he got exterminated before getting there).
