Quote ( Alan Halford @ July 13th 2018,21:55:24 ) You did - You got 30 points :)
I'm not even trying to understand the scoring, but shouldn't a correct score be worth more?

Quote ( Jukka Sireni @ July 14th 2018,21:09:14 ) I'm not even trying to understand the scoring, but shouldn't a correct score be worth more?
It was a "bonus" score - his predicted score of 1-1 was incorrect but as the draw went to ET or penalties he got that correct for bonus points.

i don't even understand what we are predicting. The game ended 1-1 at the normal time and 2-1 after extra time, so his prediction was totally correct.
From the score sheet I have thought we are predicting the score before penalties, so possible overtime included. Thus I have posted only 1 score.
Yet people are predicting both normal and extra time scores, but nothing has been said to them. If the score prediction indeed includes the possible extra time, I think you should take the after extra time score from those people, not the normal time score.

Well most people seemed to get the idea, but I apologise if I did not mention it enough times but there was a lot going on. I did say it early on before as the knock out matches started
Quote ( Alan Halford @ June 29th 2018,07:27:52 ) Sorry guys - don't forget that if you put any matches down as draws - you can do the same as Javier and put
Quote ( Javier Caceres @ June 28th 2018,22:18:45 )
PK(4-3)
so you need to put your choice of Penalties (PK) as you will get extra bonus points if it is correct
and then mentioned it again.
Quote ( Alan Halford @ July 4th 2018,17:29:22 ) There are a number of you that are not putting any other result than a draw - but why ???
Leaving it like that may not give you any points but putting ET or Penalties may give you extra points so why not use it - it's not as if it is costing you anything.
Go that extra mile and put more - you know it makes sense :)
From this moment on most people seemed to be entering extra time or penalties so I assumed most people had read this so again I assumed everyone had read what had gone on before and made their predictions accordingly.

Which one was right for Russia - Croatia?
A) 1-1 (3-4 PK)
B) 2-2 (3-4 PK)
C) 1-1 (2-2 AET - 3-4 PK)
A lot of people predicted draw and PK but no one has predicted two different scores as draw before PK
|
|
|
I agree with Jukka. I thought there was one prediction, full time including ET So 1-1 (2-1 AET) is the same as 2-1, that was my understanding
No i understand why i have so little bonus points :(

Guys - I did explain that it was a sheet I purchased and that there was not much I can do with the formulas that are contained within it.
The method of scoring was accepted early on after some discussion and I implemented it. I enter your predicted score.
From there if it is a draw and you predicted the correct draw, you get the points awarded. If it was a draw but not the right one - you still got points but not the full points. Once a draw is entered, it comes up with 2 other boxes which require some form of result.
If you get that result correct (whether Extra Time or penalties) you are awarded the bonus points and extra points if it is the correct team going through.
Please see Post # 1 Final Awarded Points Table where it explains points awarded for all group matches and knockout matches where it states Full Time (Normal time + Extra Time)
I can only assume, (as it only came up with 2 extra boxes after a draw,) that those boxes were for a result in Extra Time or Penalties and that is something I cannot change or enter any differently so if anyone predicted a draw, they got points and from there if they predicted a win in Extra Time or Penalties and predicted correctly, they got Bonus points.
I hope that explains the situation enough :)

Quote ( Niels Wolters @ July 15th 2018,11:27:20 ) No i understand why i have so little bonus points :(
There are only 3 of your results that would give bonus points as Bonus points were only available in the knockout stages and I am pretty sure I entered everyone's predictions correctly.
Quote ( Niels Wolters @ July 4th 2018,11:09:13 ) 58 06 July 2018 19:00 Brazil v Belgium 2-1
Incorrect result so no points
Quote ( Niels Wolters @ July 4th 2018,11:09:13 ) 60 07 July 2018 19:00 Sweden v England 1-1 (Pk 4-3)
This did not get any as you had the wrong result
Quote ( Niels Wolters @ July 8th 2018,20:21:22 ) Match 62 ..... 11 July 2018 Croatia v England 1-1 (ET 1-2)
Once again, your prediction was incorrect so you got no bonus points
Please let me know if I have missed any others and I will correct them

First of all, congrats to Alan for this great and entertaining competition, and, of course, many thanks as well.
Then, without a doubt, big congrats to the "gold medal" winner, Stuart McIntyre, and " silver medal" winner, Jukka Sireni, and naturally also to the "bronze medal" winner, Kyle Morris. Great predicting job, lads.
And last of all, congrats to ALL the competitors, regardless of wherever they finished in this competition, that made their presence in this competition a successful one.
Congratulations to all!!

I have sent pm's to all who participated in 2018 to see who would be interested as I will be doing another one this year.
It is a long way off yet but gives me plenty of time to get things sorted and ready as I fully expect there to be good participation again
