Think of the PR benefits of that.

Yeah, cause he's been known for his ability to be in the right car at the right time during his career.

Well, he was at Renault and to be fair he was in a championship winning car in 2007 aswell, but blew it. And could have won the title in 2010 and 2012. Certainly should have won in 2012.

But yeah, you'd think Wehrlein is favourite for the seat. But would they risk it?

Considering they already have a World Champ in the other car, I don't see it being much of a risk. And if he fails there's always Ocon, among others, that can replace him at the drop of a hat.

I have heard he was throwing tantrums mid season in Manor, thus Ocon's promotion to FI instead of him

I hope that Vettel will be at Mercs if Ferrari can't be faster than them next season. Wherein looks like a compromise for one year, when they can take a better driver.

I can actually see Riccardo not wanting to deal with Verstappen timebomb.

But I cannot see Merc looking too far outside their own boys, too many of them to just take someone from the outside and leave them waiting and questioning their choice of supporter.

Thing is though...how many of them deserve the seat? Probably one, or none. Bottas would have earnt a top seat last year or 2014 you would say but not anymore. The best drivers this season that arn't driving Mercedes equipment were Max, Daniel, Carlos and Fernando. In my mind one of them OR Perez have to get the seat. Wehrlein is not even the best 'other' Mercedes engine driver. Yes, he's driving a shitty Manor, but he couldn't even beat Ocon to the Force India seat which kind of says a lot about him. I think he's too immature for a top drive at the minute. It's not that I don't rate him, he's a good driver, but at the moment he's a fair way from being great and there's been quite a few question marks about him with regard to how he operates with a team and his attitude in general.
