Hi all,

First season newbie here. Tonight will be my first race where the rain is forecast for the 1st quarter of the race. I would like to start the race with wet tyres (even though it states track is dry for the 1st lap) to avoid an extra pitstop for when the rain comes (70% rain probability) . What i would like to ask is will my driver automaticly pit at the end of the first lap to change to dry tyres or will he drive the 1st quarter with the wet tyres as per my wishes ?

thankyou all in advance.

That's your answer if you pick the wet tyres and just as logical as well. Why would he pit for a weather change when you have already prepared for that?

Also, the "stating" doesn't mean that it's dry for only 1st lap, remember that the 1st quarter says 70% rain probability as well. Of course this race could be the one where only 1 lap is dry at the beginning (I don't know it of course), but just telling that it can be more than 1 lap as well. The start just begins with track being dry for "x" amount of laps until the 70% of probability strikes.

Good luck in your first "lottery" race, as that's what we like to call it here. :P

No is not correct as an answer.
Your driver will NOT stop for dry tyres before the rain starts IF he has no kind of accident that will drive him to the pits.
In case of an accident in the start of the race,he will have to pit and he will change to dry tyres

No IS the correct answer!

He was asking about dry vs wet, not a random as you're referring to.

And just because you think the rain MAY come (it may stay dry) should you?
How well do you think your wet tyres will last on a dry track at 44º to 51º?

Starting on wet tyres may not be the best strategy (unless the rain starts on lap 2 then we all would be wishing we had started on wets), but this is how you learn.

Remember to save as much data as you can, and keep asking questions. If your confused with conflicting answers, which can happen, then PM an experienced manager why should point you in the right direction.

All the best for the race......lets roll that weather dice

remember that the 1st quarter says 70% rain probability as well

Keep always in mind that this information means also that there is a 30% chance of full dry race...
