Im guessing the sense of humour got lost somewhere in Holland. it gets to Wopke on a 1700 population town, so I guess it's lost cos of streets in some big cities

I wouldn't hide it, because I'm not afraid if someone is "spying" on me. if someone wants to invest time to figure out what I'm doing with my money so bee it

Maybe hide the numbers but still allow the money and balance page to be ordered by money levels? that way you can't know the values for sure but can get a sense of where you are financially in your group.
I dont think it is that important though, if people want to spend their time working out what ive spent then they can, also, the poor people who have tried to get to the top of the statistics page would no longer be semi famous! :p

I upgrade my parts, do testing and save a lot of money so that I'm the wealthiest active manager in my group and see my rivals sink down in debts. Yes, I'm Chuck Norris!
Just kidding. Knowing how much money other managers have is meaningless!

Honestly, with a poll like this its impossible to get fair results.
You are steering people towards an answer. If it hadn't been "I'm a weakling, so I wanna know" or I'm tough I don't need to, you could probably have had decent result. Now this poll is biased Quote ( Floris Maljers @ February 10th 2012,00:36:18 )

I prefer to keep money and car levels public. I understand it's not realistic (even though if you read enough F1 news you will know which teams have money and which don't), but it helps to keep the game transparent and everyone involved accountable. The last thing this game needs is an admin allowing a friend to promote or even win a championship with a Lv9 car and a -$15 million debt with no one except for the both of them even knowing. A situation similar to this has happened in a blacklisted game; why give history a chance of repeating itself?

How about instead of hiding money, you would only get a rough estimate of how much others have? Say in the range of +/- 1-3m for example and rounded into millions.

I honestly can't see what the issue would be with hiding money balances.. The real life F1 teams have to show the profit/loss account (which led to people doubting Red Bull's strategy on finances last year I believe)
Of course, you could argue that this game isn't meant to be a simulator of real life F1.. But I'd argue it is, therefore keeping balances shown is the better option..
I often take a look to see who's in negative (or close to negative) but it doesn't have a bearing on which strategy I choose...

Its almost like walking into the changing rooms of your opponent and asking them how what tactics they have for this match.
Back in the day teams did exchange match videos with rivals to study their tactics..not in F1 perhaps but its been on in competitive sports for a while i think.

absolutely second that..Its a Grand Prix Management game and it shd be as close as possible to the the real thing.

I you know your opponents money you may predict their strategy or something like that. That makes the game more competitive because if you don't know anything about your opponents everyone is going to play in the dark( just make the strategy and see the results)

Money displayed should be post race balance, and any expenditure should then only become apparent after the race that it affects. Likewise with Car Level etc.
This is a very good idea. Definitely extend it to driver/td OA too.
My only suggestion is that even if a manager goes negative before the next race, he should immediately have an N next to the name.

No opinion on immediate N yet.

What a biased poll, not even neutral at all. Maybe you could pay 5m to hide your finances for the rest of the season. But who cares anyway. Woudn't change much about this game at all.

This is a dictatorship right?
Pretty much but as we can see in Europe - the Democracy has proved it self as "not working". :P
More on the topic, I think Keri is right, I havent been doing any of this "spying" to know what my rivals are doing (are going to do) but I believe its pretty useful at some points. And it should be taken away because not everyone has time to do all this stuff. Similar reason why we cant change strategies during race - not everyone can be online at the race time :)
Although my vote went for "I have never had any money at GPRO" :P

the options are too biased... ironic considering the title of this thread.
No, I don't think the amount of money should be hidden. It provides a good gauge to how challenging your opposition is going to be in any given season.
Not to mention it would be very unrealistic.

You see! That's what I hate about such forum discussions. It goes against every values I was raised with. I suppose that is what is to be expected in a conversation where grown ups and children are participating, but still I hate it.
Mark, you disagree? That is your right. I am not swept away by Keri's suggestion either. But if you call the idea stupid, don't you think that at some level you are also calling the man stupid? How constructive is this.
Why don't you state your arguments instead of labeling the idea «stupid»? That would be worth reading. As it is, your post is certainly not worth it.

Alright mate, chill out!
And no, a clever man (or woman) can still have a stupid idea :)
I don't like for a few reasons. You need to know if other mangers are in negative money or close to it, to know what will happen with promotions etc.
It adds something to the game, to see how others are doing. At helps with finding new team members.
It adds a fun bit of competition and it is interesting looking at the statistics page.
Also, the main point, is that it does no harm to allow everyone to see it!
Furthermore, I think hiding your finances is being more afraid of the competiton than showing them off :)
Will that do for ya, Serge?
