GPRO Bracket Tour - Season 4 October
Tokyo Grand - Semi-Finals + Final
Tom Byrne def. Grant Crouch {1} 5-0 Jed Howorth def. Greg Tierney 3-1
Tom Byrne def. Jed Howorth 2-1

Two men were the favorites but Mateusz Siwiński and Alan Halford both had to overspend a little. This meant Grant Crouch was the favorite going into the Quarterfinals but he opted for a guaranteed Semi-Final instead of failing in the Quarters. Jed Howorth was the most efficient, defeating Lyee Chong, the other two players won by just a single point. Greg Tierney got the maximum of 340 points out of his Tokyo campaign, while Tom Byrne still had an impressive seven points remaining. Spending five in the Semis almost proved out to be costly, but as Howorth spent three, it was a false alarm. Tom Byrne is the winner of the Season 4 Tokyo Grand! The first non-coleader of the game was crowned No.1 after winning the first 500 event in Jakarta. He lost it to the first Grand winner right away, but remained in the Top 10 for about a year and a half. He was down to 18th at one point but this season was much more successful for him with a title, two 500-Semi-Finals and now, the biggest hardcourt title of the game.

Grant Crouch is the GBT leader for the second month in a row (for the 12th month in his career). With 12 months, he is now tied with Vin Struder for the most months as No.1. And as Jed Howorth is forced to rest in November, only a Chew Kai Wen 250-victory can stop Crouch from breaking the record. Fresh Grand Finalist Howorth is in a career-high second position, Tom Byrne is back in the Top 5 after almost 2 full seasons, Gilmar Rocha breaks his own best, 8th place last month by another position. John Ibbotson falls down to 10th after 31 straight months in the Top 9. Six players are safely above the Sofia cutoff line (Crouch, Howorth, Kai Wen, Byrne, Anello and Upton), while the last two spots will be decided in November, as Tierney, Lung, Rocha and Paukson attempt to knock Struder and Ibbotson out from the Top 8.

They did the comeback but they couldn't finish the job - Wales falls to Faroe Islands in the decider of the second Semi-Final! A proper job from the fourth seeds, after defeating favorite China and walking past Uruguay, their run ends in the Final Four for the second year in a row. As for the Faroe Islands, their first Players' Cup Final and the first Players' Cup champions, Ghana await. For the first time in the history of this tournament, the location of the Final didn't have to be drawn. The Faroe Islands hosted Ghana in the S2 Semi-Finals, their last and only previous match in the Cup. Therefore, it's now Ghana's turn to host the third Finals of this event.

Ghana (John), please announce the surface (and location) of the Players' Cup Final as soon as possible.

Ghana is pleased to welcome Faroe Islands to the final of the Players Cup, to be held on the clay courts of Accra.

Well done Mike... Good luck in the final
Pushed you close though !!!!

|
|
Cheers Keith. I think I took my extra points for granted & didn't put too much into the tactical aspect.
In reality, you probably deserved it because your performance in our match was much better than mine.

The way I do it doesn't include a chart like this so advantage you :)
Well done! That must have taken a long time. Do you think you can keep it updated / need help with it? I can add that to the PC page happily.
|
|
|
It only took me maybe 2, 3 hours. Most of the time was spent finding the matches on the threads. I'm happy to keep it updated best I can. If you want to add it to places / take it over, I'm equally fine with that :)

GPRO Bracket Tour - Season 4 November
Singapore 250 - Quarterfinals
John Ibbotson* {4} def. Nate Lung 3-2 (2-5, 8-5, 2-0, 1-5, 8-5) Greg Tierney {3} def. Kyle Morris* 3-2 (5-6, 2-1, 4-3, 5-4, 2-4)
https://i.imgur.com/wq3iZTr.png
A presumably normal day at the office as both seeds advance to the Semi-Finals. Kyle Morris loses to Greg Tierney in an even battle, while Nate Lung loses to John Ibbotson and loses his chance to be in the Top 8 and in Sofia outright. That battle is now down to three people playing in Singapore, Struder, Ibbotson and Tierney. The American battle will likely be the decider of the final place in Sofia. Oh and four of five sets in Tierney-Morris were won by one, how satisfying!
We're awaiting a tiebreaker in Delhi so more news will come from India tomorrow morning!

Couldn't get much closer than that to be honest

Is this where I tell Shannon I'm only submitting 4 this round and then beat her?
Because I'm actually submitting 2...

|
|
|
|
|
|
I mean I'd tell [them] that i'm submitting 7. And then promptly not do that.

It's a long season I see... :)
GPRO Bracket Tour - Season 4 November
Singapore 250 - Semi-Finals
John Ibbotson* {4} def. Chew Kai Wen {1} 3-2 (1-3, 7-6, 6-3, 6-3, 1-3) Vin Struder* {2} def. Greg Tierney {3} 3-1 (7-0, 6-4, 7-7, 0-7, 1-0)
https://i.imgur.com/OLcqL2L.png
The two favorites advance and John Ibbotson will play Vin Struder for the 5th time on the Tour. This finalizes the Top 8 going into December and with that, the list of participants for Sofia... but here's a huge catch. Vin Struder had 1 Stamina going into November and won a match. John Ibbotson had 2 Stamina going into November and won two matches. Neither will be able to play in the GBT Finals! Greg Tierney and Nate Lung breathe a sigh of relief - they are guaranteed to play the season finale if they wish so. So as for Ibbotson and Struder, next up a chance to end their seasons on a high - in November.

Another showdown with John. One of us will end the season happy since neither of us can go to Sofia.

GPRO Bracket Tour - Season 4 November
Delhi 250 - Semi-Finals + Final
Alan Halford {4} def. Rocco Stallone 10-10 after tiebreaker Shannon Fuerte {3} def. Tim Riddell {2} 7-6
Shannon Fuerte {3} def. Alan Halford {4} 3-3 after tiebreaker
https://i.imgur.com/ACR9xSh.png
A long and complicated end to the Delhi 250 saw three ties, one in each round, two of them played by Alan Halford. The Welshman got past Rocco Stallone, the 'winner' of Qualifying but had no answer to Shannon Fuerte's tiebreak performance. Fuerte wins his first ever GBT title and will start December as No.14, his new career-high.
Singapore 250 - Final
John Ibbotson* {4} def. Vin Struder* {2} 3-2 (3-1, 8-4, 2-7, 2-8, 6-1)
https://i.imgur.com/muxPeMw.png
High numbers were flying in the clash between the two previous Year-End No.1s, basically all missing their targets. A 3-1 win in the first set made the difference for John Ibbotson, the new Singapore 250 winner. He's now tied 2-2 head-2-head with Struder on clay, following his first title of Season 4.

Grant Crouch is the GBT leader for the third month in a row (and for the 13th month in his career). 13 months as No.1 is the new GBT record, and he has a very clear shot at making it 14 in December - following a good result on Grass in Sofia, he can finally become a year-end Champion. The fight is not over, as Jed Howorth and Chew Kai Wen keep 2nd and 3rd, but will become underdogs in Sofia if they play the Finals. Tom Byrne and especially Christian Anello are behind on points but ahead on Grass Skill, the draw will be crucial. With Ibbotson and Struder finishing their seasons now, Greg Tierney and Nate Lung earn a place in Sofia, but if someone else withdraws, the final list of participants may become even more surprising.

Looks like it was my turn to win :)
I had it my head that you didn't need stamina in the finals tournament, so I clearly got that completely wrong!

It even sounds like something plausible, almost like this has been mentioned once before... but alas, it's not a rule in any of the four opening posts, therefore I can't even say I removed it between two seasons :/

Gg to all the guys in Delhi, its nice to finally win.

I forgot about the Players' Cup final, post will be up tonight, along with the reminders, deadlines will be Sunday, Tuesday and Friday.
