For those that are interested, again I present the Manager Index rankings!

Basically, the MI shows what the standings would look like if every car finished according to their car rank in each race. I then compare it with the actual results and the Power Rankings which makes for some interesting statistics.

Like how Bonnier's manager could gain him 17 places up from the power rankings to the MI, yet the driver lost a whole 28 positions in the actual season.

1963's 10-race-long season started with Bugatti winning their first race since 1959. CSI, Tec-Mec, Gordini all got early race wins, as Peter Whitehead emerged as a title favorite by winning his 13th and 14th race. He eventually faded away while it was announced that he would retire at the end of this year, ending an era of FGen. With his retirement, there's now no more drivers left who appeared in the very first official race back in 1949. With three races to go, it was Kurtis Kraft's time to shine but only Salvadori got a race win along with 5-4-4 points, they were only one of several challengers going into Watkins Glen.

Eric Brandon was leading the championship before the final race, but the German was in no position to score too many points. Five people could realistically catch him: Salvadori and Godia from Kurtis Kraft, Behra from Cooper, Linden from CSI and England from Alfa Romeo. Behra took first blood by winning Qualifying 0.01 ahead of Salvadori. Mairesse's #7 car failed to score a single point, but both Brandon and Surtees made it to the Round of 24. This meant England couldn't take the championship lead anymore but the Alfas remained top favorites for the race. Godia's title hopes ended in the Quarterfinals, Linden and Salvadori finished fourth in their respective Semi-Finals, they both needed a Final at least. It was down to Jean Behra to overtake Eric Brandon, he needed third place to take the title. As pit stops favored no one, Behra was driving in fourth for a decent portion of the race but eventually got the better of Ivor Bueb to finish third and win the 1963 championship by one single point.

Jean Behra is Formula Generally's 10th champion, as well as the second French-born. He was in four Finals, scored three podiums and won a race. His winning margin is one point, which can be attributed to winning the last Qualifying of the year, or to scoring an upset point in the Dutch Round of 24 in the #36 car. He was always a decent driver in his nine CSI years but he really started flying when he signed for Cooper. He scored 18, 28 and now 31 points in a year and he's on his way to become a veteran superstar as being 42 years old, he's inevitably nearing his retirement.

Eric Brandon is also a defining driver of the early 1960s, finishing second in the championship for the second time in a row. Last year he got 33 points, which would have been more than enough this year. He can have another go at the title next year, he's also slowly becoming the statistically second best driver ever in some cases. Salvadori's fascinating career continues with his best season to date, he scored his second win and is about to be a title favorite with Kurtis Kraft, depending on the amount of wet races next year. Paco Godia was in a prime spot with four races to go, but his Semi-Finals turned out to be unfortunate, he ended the season with 28 points but only two Finals from five Semis.

Peter Whitehead, The Best Driver of Formula Generally finally retires from the sport, scoring 14 wins, 26 podiums, 303 points in 139 races. His last season ends with a 5th place, he ends with three titles, seven Top 5 and eleven Top 10 finishes in the standings. Andy Linden is a surprise entry and P6, by far his best season and he's on an upward trend, scoring 9, 14, 20 and now 26 points. Goldsmith P7, England P8, Alfa Romeo didn't have a title winning package but they were mighty consistent in 1963. Ricardo Rodríguez shows last year's P10 wasn't a fluke and scores another Top 10 this year, the Mexican brothers are here for the long haul. Castellotti, the better of the Ferraris round off the Top 10, thanks to his three consecutive third place finishes.

A win for 11th placed Don Freeland and it's not a terrible season for him, but we're talking about a former runner-up so maybe Gordini wanted a bit more from this season. Jackie Lewis score Tec-Mec's first win and we may look back at Monaco as the team's breakout moment. Shelby and Taylor were outpaced by their teammates and couldn't win any races either, still solid Top 15 for them. Bruce McLaren scored eight times this year, five of them Rounds of 24 however for a total of 17 points. Musso scored 9 points in the opener, only seven after for 16 points and 16th place. With Ivor Bueb, Ecurie Belge enjoy a rare Top 20 finish, fourth place was a perfect end of this season for the team. Two-time champ Edgar Barth made way for Behra to shine, but Cooper will be hoping for more from him.

Over the last few years, Surtees became a clear #2 driver for Mercedes, shows he's 17 places behind his teammate this year. Aston Martin round off the Top 20 with Lewis-Evans, it took him 66 entries but he's now a podium finisher at last. Bandini 21st, both CSIs score well this year, clearly their best season to date. Last year Ruttman outscored Hill, now Hill outscores Anderson in the Centro Sud battle at the middle of the table, Marimón scored six Quaterfinals but only one of them were a Semi-Final. Lederle and Maggs both in the middle, scoring two Finals but no podiums.

Ireland's highlight was one second place in Britain, Stacey's one second place in Monaco, the race after Silverstone. Piotti couldn't win a race this year and only finishes 28th this year. Hailwood's rookie season ends with two Semi-Finals in a row. Siffert's 12 points were scored in four consecutive races, scoring three points each. Hall and de Portago had almost identical seasons, one Semi, three-four more Quarterfinals for a total of 12 points. Vaccarella couldn't make it to a Semi-Final this year and finishes 34th. Half of d'Orey's 8 points were scored in Australia, 4/7 of Bonnier's points in Silverstone. Porsche end the year on 14 points and no Semi-Finals, Mairesse scored five times but never been in the Final 8. Amon's rookie season is one to forget, Clark got six points in five consecutive races, and five DNQs around it, Pedro Rodríguez's first season ends with five points, ahead of the two Ecurie Frances and Trintignant's Scarab.

The team of the 1960s so far, Kurtis Kraft win their fourth Constructors' Championship by a solid 10 points ahead of Cooper. Only one win this year for the Americans but no less than nine Semi-Finals, they couldn't get the individual title but they were untouchable as a team. This was by far Cooper's best year, scoring a win, second place in the Constructors', but most importantly the team's first title with Jean Behra. In a tough fight for second, Cooper (47) got the better of Alfa Romeo (46), Alta (45, two wins) and Mercedes (45, one win), none of them had an outstanding season to challenge KK but all of them can be satisfied with their seasons, especially Cooper, who are now definitely one of the top teams of FGen.

CSI's 6th place is their best ever result, tied with 1955's 6th place, veteran Linden drove his heart out scoring 26 points. Ferrari still aren't winning races but this 7th place is looking much better than P13 from two years ago. Gordini's 8th place is actually their worst position since 1956 but they are still a race winning team so noting to worry about just yet. 9th place for Tec-Mec is their first ever Top 10 following their first ever win, as BRM underperform a little but with a lot of point finishes. Talbot had the most polarizing season in 11th, with an amazing Ricardo and a shaky Pedro miles apart.

Connaught scored 11 Quarterfinals but only made it through of them twice, Vanwall had their wet races but not at the right time, they are podiumless in 1963. Bugatti got one win in race #1, then only two Semi-Finals after, equaling Centro Sud, who got their two Semi-Finals late in the season, accompanied by a lot of Quarterfinals. Ecurie Belge finish the year on a high, good for a charge up to P16, ahead of ERA, Aston Martin and Enrico Platé, three teams with one very good result but not many more decent races. Porsche missed one race but never got to a Semi-Final anyway, finishing ahead of Ecurie France.

Lotus won the Étancelin Trophy convincingly, five points ahead of Maserati. Scarab ended their FGen year after one entry in Australia and finish third.

Congratulations to
Jean Behra (team: Cooper, manager: Josh Anderson) on winning the 1963 Drivers' Championship,
Kurtis Kraft (manager: Constantin Heller) on winning the 1963 Constructors' Championship,
Lotus (manager: William Day) on winning the 1963 Étancelin Trophy.

Could Connaught be bought?

Rumours have started to circulate in the paddock about a possible buy-out of one of the teams. In an interview to the newspaper, Connaught manager Matthew responded stating.

"Look there are rumours stating that there is an interest from a manufacturer and it's not like we are going to say no to this project as there is possible potential for this to maybe go far if things go right. But that is a big if."

No one knows if this truly true but only time will tell if there is any development that comes out of this.

No news coming out of Talbot

"Why you bothering me for, I've done everything, bug someone else" was the message englishman Kyle Morris said before jetting off to a private island, accompanied by what looks to me 10 models, he has really let fame get to his head... I say fame, he hasn't won a title and hasn't won since 1957, he is still reminiscing that Goodwood win that gave him 3rd in the championship in 1950 LET IT GO!
I tried to speak to the Mexican brothers but they kept saying Por Favor. Who knows what is happening in that French team, but it seems to me they aren't doing anything

CSI still in Existential Crisis

"What do you mean we don't exist? Does anything exist? Is anything real? Are you real? Are we just a figment of our own imagination?" These were the words of CSI team manager and Singaporean Kai Wen Chew when we interviewed him. CSI still cannot be found on wiki pages and much about the team is still unknown, which might explain why half the team don't actually know who their employer is.

"Now if you have nothing else to annoy us with, we have test practice sessions to run." Soon after saying that, Bandini rams his car at high speed into the back of Linden's CSI car, smashing both cars into smithereens before it even leaves the garage, leading to a muttering of words which cannot be mentioned here by the team manager.

Whitehead Retires

After 15 seasons Alta legend Peter Whitehead has officially retired from the series. It was known at the start of the season that this would be his last and came close to a 4th title but ultimately fell short of the fairytale finish.

Whitehead retires with his name at the top of the record books. With 139 entries, 14 wins 26 podiums and 303 points alongside 3 world championships Whitehead has been the main figure for Alta, and arguably for the entire series for many years.

American rookie Peter Revson has already been confirmed as Whitehead's replacement and although more experienced options such as former champion Trintignant were considered, the Alta boss believes Revson is the right man to take over and partner Taylor. Revson's first task will be to become the first American to win a race for Alta as fellow countryman Jimmy Bryan failed in his 6 year stint with the team.

The main question is now whether Alta can remain championship contenders without their main man spearheading the team. Only time will tell.

Kurtis Kraft in disbelief about recent success

The American outfit has once again managed to win the Constructor's title in 1963, having been the favorite throughout the entire season. Despite not having a driver win the championship this year, they pulled a significant gap to all other teams.

Manager Constantin Heller seems mostly confused. "We hired a new, less experienced driver, and we were mostly planning to build up for next season. Our pitstop strategy even messed up several races and we still collected this many points. Now it's looking like another strong season next year. Honestly, with the budget we now have, I'm considering to just go to Wall Street instead."

For now though, he's staying with the team and the same driver lineup as last season. Newcomer Salvadori has clearly shown potential, and Godia seems to be at the top of his game again. The new regulations may hurt the team slightly, but it's still very likely that they'll be one of the top teams next season.

There have not been any news regarding a repeated engine collaboration in 1964. Rumors are Kurtis Kraft can now afford to build a stronger engine by themselves, and after losing the Driver's title to one of their associates, they might be looking towards a more unique design next year. Surely there is still potential though if a lucrative offer comes their way.

Kurtis Kraft's manager concluded the press conference by saying "No funny messages for the forum this time, sorry!" We're not quite sure how to interpret this, but for now we're still confident in his capability of successfully running his team.

This has been a Kraft Kurtis Kraft press release. Refrain from acronyms or we'll sue you.

Maggs out of a drive, Lederle to become solo driver for Vanwall

Following a relatively good finish, rumors of Maggs’ situation being at risk soon began to surface as Maggs dropped below Lederle in the standings and failed to improve his qualifying, not qualifying 4 times compared to Lederle never failing to make it into the race.

As of this morning, the team has decided to focus their efforts behind 1 reliable and consistent driver, with the option to pick up a second, flashier driver in the future.

“Maggs is a great guy, but to put it simply, his performance was not up to scratch to where it should have been last season. Trust me, this move will save an anuerysm for both myself and upper management. I believe a year or two out of the sport to hone his qualifying will be the best for him.” - Team Manager Shannon Fuerte

Cooper just happy to be winning

After their best ever year in Formula GeneRally, in which they achieved 2nd in the Manufacturers' Championship with Jean Behra winning the Drivers', IBM Cooper Cars team principal Joshua Anderson has a lot to be happy about - with a huge increase in budget for 1964 and the continued services of reigning champion Behra (now in the #1 car) and 2-time champion Edgar Barth (taking the #2). At a press conference, Anderson said the following:

"It's only taken 10 ****** years but we've done it at last! Jean drove brilliantly this year and while Edgar might not have done as well as he'd have liked, he's still extremely talented and we're hoping 1964 will be better for him.

We might not have the budget of teams like Kurtis Kraft - who I have to thank for giving us such a good engine this year! - but we can still fight with the top teams and here's hoping we can have just as good a year in 1964!"

Anderson also stated that any rumours that he might be eyeing up a buyout of the ailing Scarab team are unfounded and that "we saw what happened with Ecurie France and quite frankly if people want to bankrupt another team, I won't stop them."

This news report was brought to you by IBM Cooper Cars, who now have 3 Drivers' Championships in their team and are therefore brilliant.

Not many drivers can claim to have had a 10 year career in Formula GeneRally. With the last remaining "original" driver in Peter Whitehead retiring from the sport, the time of the old guard seems to be coming to an end. But one driver retires this year at the age of just 35. With 88 points from 87 starts, he's one of Formula GeneRally's more consistent drivers, and with 2 podium finishes to his name, he had the pace to succeed as well. But after 10 years of driving, it's time for him to hang up his FGen gloves.

This is the story of Jim Rathmann. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vSe0wZb0Hjh_...

Bugatti not happy with recent results, looking to replace d'Orey for 65'

Despite winning the first race of the season (and their first since 1959), Bugatti are disappointed in their results following another subpar performance in F1.

The reason for this frustration is in Fritz d'Orey, brazilian driver and former wonderkid turned into underachiever: "It just isn't working for us; we have to change something", said the manager, who once had d'Orey as his prodigy and even number one driver at one point. Clearly, this is not the case anymore, as Luigi's consistency continues to impress Bugatti going into another great season for the italian (even fighting for the Driver's Championship at the beggining).

However, it is good to point out that Bugatti have been struggling to get out of the so-called "middle of the pack" of F1. Their recent attempts included a change of engine for a single season, before seemingly sigining a multi-season contract with Constructor Champions Kurtis Kraft.

The real question is: What is the problem with Bugatti? Is it just a driver underperforming, or is it deep into management? We'll have to be in the lookout for what the team does going forward.

Notable changes are the departure of Ecurie France and Maserati, while Enrico Platé's crew moves over to Scarab.

Well that was lucky as I was going to remove Marimon anyway and see what other drivers will be on the market when 1964 comes round.

Sorry, I forgot that one. Unfortunately I can't mark Discord messages like I can do it with the GPRO DMs :)
