What I'd personally love to see (which is admittedly in part due to me not actively playing the game itself right now) is watchlist topics on my home page. It's been suggested a few times like 6 or more years ago, so I felt a new topic would be okay.
Basically, I have a few topics on the forum that I'd love to have a direct link on my home page to, so I can reach them in a single click rather than having to load three or more pages, and surely others feel the same.
Maybe you could mark certain topics on your watchlist as "pinned", which will then show up at the top of the recent topics, or maybe have a small extra box for those pinned topics?
Maybe even have a separate tab (like the recent topics already have) for the watchlist? A simple link to the watchlist like the "post a new topic" option would probably be easier to implement but also won't be quite as useful.
My favourite way of approaching this is what the boardgamegeek.com site does. Each user there gets his own personal "quick tab section" and they can add whatever links they want to it (both internal and external). In here for you the links could be to forum threads but for someone else it could for example be a link to a friendly manager or rival, a sponsor they are waiting to free up, the newbie guide or whatever else you want. BGG lets you store 100 links this way (10 pages with 10 links each) which is probably an overkill.
Yes, but it takes several clicks to get there from the home page, which IMO takes away from its usefulness a bit. I'd like to have topics right on my home screen because of how lazy I am
I agree. Could be a quick topics section like Lech said or just a watchlist link in the home page. I kinda feel the same way being such a lazy myself too.
