After the issues with being able to make their fixtures at the end of last season for Australia, they seem to be afflicted by the same concerns this time around too! Malaysia are the beneficiaries therefore (though this is hardly how manager Lyee Chong would want to open his team's account this season) and move to the top of the A League as a result...

UEFA BOT Round-Up - Match Day 3
UEFA North/West
In the A League, Wales and Sweden already look like they may be competing to avoid relegation this season - making their clash a potentially crucial one in Cardiff for Partridge's men! Meanwhile Standen's biggest challenge as the England manager so far will take place when he arrives in Paris to take on World #5 France - can the English maintain their 100% record?
In the B League, a huge rivalry will see its latest chapter take place, when the Faroe Islands travel to Copenhagen to take on Denmark after contrasting fortunes for both those sides in the opening fixtures (with Willmore's Faroe Islands topping the table right now). Elsewhere a mouth-watering fixture sees two new managers square off, when Portugal take on Belgium - with both very much still in contention for top spot at this early stage of the season.
In the C League, Iceland and Ireland play out a turgid 0-0 draw that does little to help either's hopes of surviving in the league. Meanwhile, arguably the most anticipated C League match-up ever takes place as World #1 Luxembourg face off with Saez's Spanish side, who are themselves pushing towards a Top 10 World ranking as it stands...
Finally, in the D League, Scotland and Norway play out a thrilling 2-2 draw - but that ultimately costs the Scots, who fall behind Northern Ireland in the table...as the minnows manage an impressive 1-2 away victory over Finland:

UEFA Central
In the A League, Estonia v Germany pits the newest A League member against one of the most established - and with Wagner's side not having the greatest start to their campaign (the 1st time they haven't won their opening fixture vs the Netherlands), Germany's record of being one of only two sides (Australia the other!) to always reach the A League Finals could be under threat...while in the other match, Nicora broke the cycle of the Dutch losing to Germany in their opening match and he can now put himself on the map vs Poland this time around...
In the B League, what looks like it may be the fight to avoid relegation pits neighbours Austria and Switzerland against each other - with the Swiss easing past to a 1-4 victory. Elsewhere the most anticipated match-up in this group sees Hungary play Italy in what should be a thrilling encounter.
In the C League, Kavak's San Marino will look to continue their momentum when they travel to Bratislava to take on Slovakia - while Morris' Liechtenstein are at home to the Czech Republic - and if he wants to promote this season, he needs to win these types of games...
Finally, in the D League there is now a clear gulf between those fighting for promotion and those fighting to avoid relegation. Malta sneak past Belarus 0-1 but still lose top spot in the table to Slovenia, who ensure that Latvia are facing another season of trouble thanks to a 1-3 scoreline in Slovenia's favour.

UEFA South/East
In the A League, Turkey will look to build on their win vs Romania when they face off with Croatia, who have had something of a reality check after Laundon took them so far into the World Cup last season. Elsewhere Romania's toughest task of the season is to head to Athens and take on World Champions Greece in their own backyard...
In the B League, Russia add to Ukraine's woes with a 1-0 victory that sees them move to the top of the table at least briefly. While most experts feel that the other two sides (Bosnia v Serbia) are the favourites to promote this time around - so their match this Match Day could be crucial in the context of this group.
In the C League, it's all about Israel as they claim a 2nd consecutive win (in their 1st ever season at this level), this time against Montenegro. That opens up a mammoth 4 point gap already on draw specialists Bulgaria, who manage a 1-1 draw with Kosovo, which gives the latter their opening points of the campaign too...

Finally, in the D League Armenia's struggles continue, as they lose 2-1 against new group leaders' Cyprus! The Cypriot side take advantage of the 0-0 draw between Albania and North Macedonia, which at least preserves both sides' unbeaten records in this group thus far...

Rest of the World BOT Round-Up - Match Day 3
Americas
Reality is really starting to bite for USA in the A League, as they suffer a 2-0 loss to Colombia - while Brazil will now face arguably Augusto's toughest task of the league season, as they take on Uruguay in Montevideo...
An inauspicious start to the season in the B League, as this is the only league withut a single goal after the opening round of fixtures. It is expected that World Cup Finalists the US Virgin Islands will motor past Chile, while Mexico v Argentina will determine whether Mike Chatzikonstantinou's efforts for the away side were just a fluke vs the US Virgin Islands or if he really finally has found a way to make the Argentines competitive again after a tough couple of seasons has seen their ranking plummet to outside of the Top 90 in the World!
In the C League, there is now a huge gulf that has emerged as Peru again lose out by a single goal - this time in a 0-1 scoreline vs Costa Rica - and the leaky Paraguayan defence consigns them to a 0-2 loss at home to Canada, who now top the table:

In the D League, El Salvador continue their strong start with a 1-2 away win at Ecuador that puts them top of the league with a 100% record after the first two games. Meanwhile Venezuela take a 2-1 win over Bolivia that gets their campaign under-way and means that Ecuador now sit bottom of the table in these early stages of the season...

In the A League, the big questions is whether Australia will be able to put a team out for what should arguably be their easiest game of the league season at home to Iran? Malaysia meanwhile head to Japan knowing that anything but a loss will see them end this Match Day top of the table...
In the B League, Qatar still cannot find the back of the net as they suffer a 2-0 loss to China that puts them to the bottom of the table. Elsewhere Singapore face their toughest match of the group stage, as they must travel to Seoul to take on South Korea.
In the C League, Hong Kong will look to shrug off their defeat to Uzbekistan by taking on the UAE - while Holmes' Uzbekistan host a Saudi Arabian side who looked incredibly poor in their opening day loss...
Finally, in the D League Pakistan continue their good form and cement their group lead with a 2-0 win over the Philippines, who are still yet to score a goal this season. Meanwhile Sri Lanka will face Iraq, with Fuerte's men eager to keep pace with Pakistan...
Africa
In the A League, it's 'as you were' given that both games this Match Day end in a draw - as Nigeria and Senegal play out a 0-0 draw, while a Salah goal looks to have given Egypt all three points vs Cameroon, until a late attack sees the Egyptians have to settle for just a single point...

In the B League, it's still only Tunisia that have lost a game in this group - as they suffer a 0-2 loss to the ever-improving Ivory Coast side (who now top the table). Meanwhile a 1-1 draw between Algeria and Ghana preserves their unbeaten records, as the table reflects...

In the C League, Congo DR manage to get Bolasie into the game far more than they did vs South Africa and he rewards them with a brace to take a 2-0 win over South Sudan here. Meanwhile South Africa will take on Morocco, with Williams' side away and likely to experience one of their tougher tests in the group stage here.
Finally, in the D League it's another single goal loss for Mali, this time in a 0-1 scoreline vs Kenya - and they preserve their place at the top of the league as a result. Elsewhere, Madagascar and Burkina Faso draw 2-2 in an entertaing game that moves Madagascar out of the relegation zone as a result:

Jon, my first results this season haven't been good and I feel like I have to change something here.
Giroud satisfied me a lot in the past, but I think it has to be the end for him ...
So, if possible, I'd like to make a replacement in my offensive line : Giroud OUT, and ... Benzema IN !!! :)

Since we're fighting for a GPRO World Cup title, I was saying "Well what lineup can be better than the current World champions ?".
Well since I don't have an inflated ego, I don't think I'd be a better coach than Deschamps and took the same team !
And I'm really happy to see Benzema back just in time to score twice against Portugal and take our revenge :)

Champions League - Match Day 2 (Groups A-D)
In Group A, Bayer Leverkusen's strong start is halted in its tracks thanks to Chew Kai Wen's Chelsea dominating the match and winning 3-0. APOEL Nicosia are still lacking some guidance from Togas, but they manage to dig in against PSG and pull out a shock 2-2 draw with the French champions!
In Group B, Wagner's Bayern Munich would surely have had their home game vs AZ Alkmaar as a nailed on victory - but that does not prove to be the case, as the Dutch side grind out a 1-1 draw in Munich! Elsewhere Atletico Madrid get their points tally under-way with a 2-1 victory over Atalanta.
In Group C, a partisan Dortmund crowd roar them on to a narrow 2-1 win over RB Salzburg that extends their lead at the top of the group. That is because Wolves - in front of an equally vocal crowd - absolutely dominate the possession and chances vs Gent and so run out 6-1 winners after a late Gent consolation is all they can manage.
In Group D, Porto and RB Leipzig play out an entertaining 2-2 draw while reigning Champions Ajax put up with a feisty set of away supporters and an early Dinamo Kiev goal to come through that test 2-1 and increase their lead at the top of the standings...

Champions League - Match Day 2 (Groups E-H)
In Group E, Real Madrid suffer an early injury to Militão that causes them to lose rhythm and ultimately only draw 1-1 with Inter Milan. The same scoreline is contested between Benfica and PSV Eindhoven, as the group is very much 'as you were' after this Match Day...
In Group F, Liverpool leave it late to close out their game with FC Basel - but a 2-1 victory is enough to extend their lead at the top of the group as Club Brugge cannot find another win, as Juventus ease to a 3-1 result that puts them back on track for knockout qualification.
In Group G, Sevilla and Napoli play out a 1-1 draw with the away crowd from Italy making their voices heard throughout the course of the game! Meanwhile an early Lille goal puts Manchester City on the back foot, but the English Champions come through 3-1 without showing any signs of nerves...
In Group H, Manchester United dominate proceedings vs Lyon to win 4-1 and move to the top of the group...and that is because - in the shock of the round - Barcelona are held to a 1-1 draw with FC Copenhagen at the Nou Camp!

The injured player this Match Day from the Champions League is Militão from Brazil - as this player is not in the Brazilian national side, this counts as the first of 3 Brazilian injuries that are permitted to happen this season before a random Brazilian player becomes injured due to the additional strain on the national team.

Europa League - Match Day 2 (Groups A-D)
In Group A, Kyle Morris's Genk play out a narrow 1-0 win over FCSB to make amends for their poor start to the group stages. Meanwhile a real shock takes place, as despite Diang's injury Wolfsberger AC record a 0-2 win away at group leaders Roma!!!
In Group B, BATE Borisov are surprising everyone as they record a shock 2-3 win over Mönchengladbach in Germany! Meanwhile, despite some strong Danish support it is Monaco who run out 2-1 victors against FC Midtjylland to keep pace with BATE and open up a gulf between the top two and bottom two in the group...
In Group C, very little preparation at all for either Arsenal or Dundalk perhaps contributes to their 0-0 scoreline (although the Dundalk team will be far happier to have managed an away point vs Arsenal!), while there is also a draw in the Red Star Belgrade vs Rapid Wien match (1-1).
In Group D, a single goal decides both games - as Feyenoord grab a late 1-0 win over Qarabag before Spurs match that achievement with a late Bale header gifting them a 1-0 victory over Austria Wien, which will move the English side joint top of the group at this early stage!

The injured player this Match Day from the Europa League is Diang from Senegal - as this player is from a BOT team, this will cost them a goal in the next match they play in the Nations League.

Europa League - Match Day 2 (Groups E-H)
In Group E, Leicester City's capacity crowd roars Fuerte's men on to a 3-1 win over Fenerbahce, while Lazio earn their first win with a relatively comfortable 2-0 victory over Vitoria de Guimaraes.
In Group F, comprehensive victories for Braga (3-0 vs Maccabi Tel-Aviv) and Shakhtar Dontesk (4-0 vs FC Utrecht) sees both of those sides climb to the top of the standings...
In Group G, a single goal is enough for Celtic to earn victory over AEK Athens, as Tierney emerges as the happier manager than Chatzikonstantinou (likely down to his general preparation). In the other match it is also just one goal separating the sides, with F91 Dudelange coming through against CSKA Moscow.
In Group H, an incredible 3-3 draw between AC Milan and Zor's Galatasaray - and that keeps the Turkish side top of the standings on goals scored, although Valencia's 3-1 win over Antwerp keeps them in contention for that top spot right now...

Europa League - Match Day 2 (Groups I-L)
In Group I, two 1-0 wins for Eintracht Frankfurt and Jun Ho's Slavia Prague over Rennes and Rosenborg respectively move both the aforementioned sides up the standings - with Prague now moving into 1st place in the group.
In Group J, a third 2-2 draw in three matches sees Vaes' Anderlecht side play out a competitive encounter with Molde FK, before Villareal finally break the trend to record a 3-0 win over Vitesse that moves the Spanish side top of the table.
In Group K, Real Sociedad make it another win for Spanish clubs this Match Day when they claim a hard-fought 2-1 win over Ludogorets. Meanwhile Sandu's CFR Cluj side manage to score a late equaliser away to Young Boys to claim a solid 2-2 draw and maintain their unbeaten record in the group thus far...
In Group L, Marseille claim a solid 3-1 win over Sparta Praha that puts a little pressure on one of the biggest games of this Match Day - as Antunes' Sporting Lisbon face off against Williams' VFL Wolfsburg side. Wolfsburg take an early lead and manage to pull away, but the Lisbon based side prove too strong with their home advantage paying dividends to ultimately give them a 5-3 victory over their opponents.

Portugal are playing without the injured Ronaldo for this game and the next two at least, with the difference that CR7 makes immediately apparent when an early 1v1 opportunity sees Bernardo Silva up against Courtois...and the Portuguese forward smashes his strike well over the bar - and you have to think that Ronaldo would have put them 1-0 up.
That opportunity - and a couple of others - go begging, which means that it is actually Belgium who open the scoring thanks to a rocket of a shot from Tielemans from outside of the box that Rui Patricio gets a hand to...but still cannot keep out! That opens the floodgates for a 10 minute period, which sees Belgium score twice more - one a Mertens header from a Hazard cross and the other a de Bruyne tap-in after a cut-back by Malen puts Belgium in the driving seat here!
However, in front of their home fans the Portuguese do manage one successful late attack in the half - as Neves finds Jota in space, who cuts in on his stronger foot before striking the ball hard and true past Courtois for a 1-3 half-time scoreline and perhaps some hope for Portugal...

Both sets of strikers in this highly anticipated C League clash between Luxembourg and Spain are somewhat goal-shy this half - as they create plenty of opportunities, but fail to get a single shot on target with both defences crowding out the attacking play in front of them throughout.
Surely someone will be able to at least the opposing keeper in the 2nd half though...

Despite playing a very slow tempo in the 1st half, Sri Lanka never look like they are under pressure against Iraq...and even go so far as to move into the lead after a casual dribble and pass by Rahuman releases Zarwan to roll the ball past the opposing goalkeeper for 1-0!
They surely can't expect to have it as easy in the 2nd half again though, however Iraq will need to show more than they have during this 1st half...

Morocco and South Africa are both fairly evenly matched here - though an incredibly defensively minded South African side do hold more of the possession...even if they aren't particularly adventurous going forwards!
However, in the 34th minute a mis-controlled back-pass puts Khune in the South African goal under pressure and he is forced to try and push the ball away from the marauding En-Nesyri - and instead takes the legs of the attacker! It's a stone-wall penalty and the strike is no less convincing when the kick takes place - meaning Williams is now under pressure to deliver a great team-talk and inspire his team to come back into this match...!

Brazil pack the midfield and look to starve the Uruguayan front men of service - and that strategy pays dividends with neither Cavani or Suárez able to manage more than a single shot on target...and that was easily dealt with by Alisson.
The price that Brazil pay for keeping Uruguay quiet is the lack of opportunities that they themselves can generate - with all of their usual goal threats restricted to long distance efforts, or simply missing the target when an opportunity does fall to them!

After no goals in the 1st round of matches in this group, it is another goalless half here between the US Virgin Islands and Chile - with the home side controlling the pace of the match and the majority of possession...but simply unable to convert that into a meaningful chance to score, with Christean playing the lone striker role and having a poor half by his standards.
Surely Tierney's men can find the upper hand in the 2nd half though...

The Bahamas are very much the side in control in this opening 45 minutes, as they stroke the ball around with confidence and calmness that ensures the Dominican Republic are forced into just attempt shots from range with very little accuracy!
The problem for the Bahamas is that their confidence borders on arrogance, as they seem to be trying to walk the ball into the net! And - unfortunately for them - several last ditch tackles deny them even getting a shot on target in this half...
