Bahrain GP: Lap 7 of 14

Its a newcomer who takes the lead as we finish the 1st half of the race! Alex Albon, who has been a late arrival to the Koenigsegg team, convincingly takes the pole position ahead of the slow Prime runners with a perfect undercut strategy. Meanwhile, a huge bunch of drivers decided to pit on Lap 4, ensuring that their day would be ruined by bad traffic. Only 2 of the 7 drivers using that strategy makes it through to the next half of the race.
Sadly, with the field this tight, the Hard runners would be another casualty this race, failing to make it in time to make the 2nd half of the race. And the same would go to Marcus Ericsson, who tried a 2 pit strategy, which unfortunately did not work out here.

Bahrain GP: Final Results

He had a difficult Season 2, but Mario Rosso thanks his manager for not kicking him out this season, by cruising to a win this race in some style! He breaks the current race record on this track, set by Emerson Fittipaldi in S1 by 0.3s. Crashtor Maldonado makes it a difficult race for him, but unfortunately falls short and claims 2nd for this race. Juan Pablo Montoya would be the next driver, who had used much slower tyres, but skilfully avoided most of the traffic chaos to finish with a good overall timing here.
The 2nd half of this race has been nothing short of spectacular. Almost every driver realised that their tyres could not last another lap longer, and required to pit in Lap 8. This caused a massive traffic congestion in Lap 8, with drivers losing around 2 seconds in lap time just from that pit alone. It is telling that everyone who had pitted in this lap finished in the bottom half of the table. The next big drama came in Lap 9, with most of the Prime drivers going into the pits in that lap. Luckily for them, it wasn't as heavy, with only half the time lost as compared to the Lap 8 pitters.
A stunning season opener, and one can only wonder what will happen in the next race...

Crashtor was the last to qualify for the race and ended up losing the win on a tiebreak. :(
But if I'm not mistaken then Manor leads in the overall standings!

Its difficult now, because eliminated drivers no longer contribute to traffic.
However, if you want, I could provide a theoretical timing based on "present" traffic conditions, meaning the traffic times of those in the final half of the race. It won't be 100% accurate, but at least is a time?

We head onto a brand new track in the OSR calendar, in the form of the Portuguese GP! Here in sunny Algarve, we see the competition start to heat up, as teams would want to try and perform well here if they had started poorly, while other teams would aim to carry on their momentum from the first race.
Haas might have failed to score points in the first race, but their record states that should almost be certain they will score points, and they will be looking to make a comeback from Race 2. Meanwhile, the likes of Manor, BMW-Sauber and McLaren will be hoping to push ahead with their strong performances in R1. And don't forget Pacific and Minardi, 2 really strong teams last season who failed to score points in this opening race. Throw in 2 new teams in HRT and Williams who have yet to score many points, the stage is set for an interesting 2nd race!
