Hi, is there a reason why we have to listen to national anthems after a race win or podium. I thought it would be nice to choose my own song or jingle or something like that instead listening to a national anthem which is really not my style of music and not everybody thinks that patriotism might be the best thing in the world. For me personally it would be more fun to listen to a song of my own choosing.
@Tibra Dy Calva (R38) I have to agree with you - I mean, patriotism isn't my friend either, and I would refer to using songs that we picked, but as Sean said, it would take ages, as multiple people would probably jump at the opportunity at it... If I'd pick one to be my national anthem, it'd be this:
I do not mind, I just would prefer to have an option to turn the sound off, as I am not interested to hear the national anthems (or any other song that was chosen). I am usually listening to something else, and then it is very annoying that this comes in between.
To solve half the issue, websites can be muted on most browsers. right click a tab and select mute. Think this is the same on Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Safari. I think Opera and Vivaldi require add-ons.

Yeah i could agree to that too. Simply an option to say pls don´t play it, would be fine by me too. And to the others, yeah u r probably right it could be abused sadly. so lets at least stick to the turn it off option.^^

Thanks for the suggestions, I did not know those! These ways, each time a race finishes you again have to click the mute button. That is what I am doing right now also (actually I just turn off the sound of my laptop completely though). But if there would be an option in the gpro settings to just not play the anthems, that would be greatly helpful.

I agree, but it is of course possible to let it be reviewed just as is done with your profile photo, so abuse is not possible. Maybe it could even be turned into something custom like a custom helmet or car design, which costs you some credits to have (to pay the effort to review it and to implement this change).

Yeah that would be quite ok to me personally. could be also something like a team song. something like the team livery, why not use a team song instead of the old spder webbed anthems. And normally its a short thing around 20 - 30secs, so it shouldn´t be that complicated to store it.
I don't think this is doable, really. Both because of the amount of work involved and the costs: server space, but mainly songs copyright which can be pretty expensive.

There is a lot of good music out there with free of use. and a lot of people are able to even create their own songs.^^ So i would say that problem might not be that complicated to solve. You could create a server based playlist with free to use music and people could pick their song of choice. wouldn´t require that much space. Around 2-5gb and you would have around 1- 2000 clips. enough for people to find a suitable song and maybe another income base. :)
Just predifine a list out of copyright free songs or anthems and let everyone decide which one he wants to hear if he wins. It could literally work in the same way as with the normal liveries or helmets.
Make the good songs a supporter feature and maybe the server space issue can be solved as well.
When I'm watching a race that I might win, I always queue on my YouTube "Tema da Vitória" (Victory Theme). On the brazilian F1 transmission this song plays every time we have a winner driver on the race :)

Opera has a mute option as mentioned above and also once a sound is produced a mute onnthe tab

Its not that easy at all. That would be a ton of work. Its also totally unnecessary. Why should the team waste money and time on such a miniscule feature? It would be incredibly complicated to integrate that stuff properly into the game. Doesnt matter if its only 5gb. And would it really be satisfying to only have clips of non copyright music? Copyrights would cost way too much.
Just mute the tab and open up some music. The tradition of playing national anthems on the podium has existed for decades. Its honestly a nice touch that the game even has it.

The tradition of living in caves has existed for centuries... but I still prefer my appartment, even if it is small.
I honestly never understood why nationalty is such a big thing in this game or in motorsports/sports.
We are taking about a game here, not ethics in the real world. I dont like it either, but thats how it is in motorsports and this game is obviously based on motorsports. Its not like listening to a national anthem automatically makes you a patriot.

That is a very lazy analogy, and obviously factually incorrect. Also are you really equating people wanting to hear national anthems (I personally don't have a preference but it's a tradition very much alive today) to people wanting to live in caves? Do you think replacing anthems with public domain songs is going to revolutionize the game?
It's such a small thing to expect devs to spend resources on when that time could be spent on features that can actually improve gameplay. I don't know why it's such a big deal when people can just mute the tab on their browsers with one simple click.

True, but why force people to hear a hymn that is literaly playing for them which they dont want to hear? I couldn't care less if there is a national anthem playing for someone else who wants that, but if it is for myself it always feels a bit cringe.

The argument was that tradition can be overcome and/or replaced. Living in caves was just the first thing that came to my mind as a "tradition" that belongs to the past.
I personally dont exspect devs to invest time in that, but as we are arguing this topic already I just hopped on the bandwagon and dropped my opinion on it.

The thing is I think hyperboles are destructive devices in debate. Pretty much anything can be argued for using an overexaggerated and loose analogy. But let's drop that for now.
I get your point about wanting to having the option of not hearing it. I'd like that too as I feel no allegiance to my national anthem. I'm saying that option already exists. And I get that having the option within the game is nicer. But that falls so low on my (and probably your) wishlist.

Nobody is forcing you. If you didn't know about muting options before, I hope you just learned about them here from some friendly players who described them above.
I hope btw. your eyes are not in pain every time you see your national flag in the game... Or other national flags during the real life F1 winners presentation...
Add something to the account setting screen that allows individual users to disable anthems from playing after a race. That way, if you don't want to hear them you don't need to hear them, while those who do can still hear them play.
I actually enjoy hearing the anthems from different countries.
WHAT???!!! You want me to 'click' on something rather than have it pre-selected to not play the audio? OMG that is sooo... passè. I don't know if I am going to be able to sleep tonight, because I may hear an anthem that I don't like to hear. What is this world coming to?
