If I wanted something to change in oval then this is lap times....Because even You finally have free road (nobody in front, nobody behind in 3 sec period) You still can not see your real pace because lap times varies a LOT. A lot lot more than it must be IMO

We all hate oval!

no we don't, i love the oval GP races. the are alot closer and you can make like 10 overtakes a lap. unlike every other track where you can only make 3 overtakes in a season.

I think the Indy oval is good track but i would also like to see Watkins Glen "classic Boot" and Mosport would be great additions to track list.

Its ok until the leader spins you into the wall on lap 200 with no penalty.

Well it might be cool, but I never drove it before. I also have no idea how I should set up the car. And I guess I am not the only one, so there might be a lot of mistakes and retirements.

Well, IMO the Oval has been and will continue to be, possibly even more excessively, an OBP race. As many have stated already, Indy is not that expensive overall here in GPRO compared to relatively high-cost tracks. And again what really makes people decide to smoke it out is the unpredictable lap times. The qualify is incredibly random, however not very important as the track has very easy overtaking. Still, with huge slipsteaming, strategies with less stops are somewhat favorable and there is some logic to the strategy, especially considering the track's very long pit lane.

Overall, I love this track as it's just different. IMO the Oval is the most exiting race to watch live in GPRO. And at the end of the day it's just one race out of the 17. Many may not like it, and of course that is their opinion, but it brings something new to GPRO. :)

One good thing about oval....You hardly can make 90% and full money by smoking out this race. Last time I tried I got 16 laps and was not last from finishers :D This is closer to reality

That's why this track is the "race or go for Pole + FL". As its unlikely if you go on to smoke that you'll complete 90% :P

I wonder how many would NOT smoke if Indy Oval would be last race in calendar.

All of those who are in relegation zone and want to stay in :) (As that'd be an excellent chance) But maybe that would be the track where you could finish pretty high even after smoking the whole race :)

FFS 45secs for a stop, 80 laps and i'm on the softs, rookie era, i keep missing stuff out, few races ago i realised it was raining once i'd done my practise laps but i won that race, this time i'm screwed!! Rookie mistakes still being made!

It's definitely the most interesting race to watch, last time round i took the lead with 3 laps to go and lost in on the last lap because my car started smoking (just an example of how quickly things change). I wouldn't be surprised if it rains this time as well :)

this is a funny track actually. so many people throw it based on one car part, but if you actually look at the wear overall for all the parts, and not just one, I'm not so sure its actually that bad. I was going to bin this race initially but on second thoughts I don't see the point in doing that. who wants to sit and watch a smoker for 160 minutes of their lives? plus id rather smoke the last race or two, safe in he knowledge that I already have the points bagged.

Lucky you, I cannot make it only 1 lap because my car parts are damaged (level 1), I have negative budget, and I cannot repair them!

If you want to race on the Oval, you need a brand new engine and you probably will wear it down completely till the end of the race. The engine is the most expensive part of the car, I'd rather have two races on Hungaroring or other high downforce track than one on the Oval.

Milos,
I think that possibly you are using very high race risks. I might be wrong :P

The more races you can finish, the more $$$$ you will receive :)

Maybe think about what other things can make your car go faster, without telling your driver to Drive the wheels of the car ~ Set up, Driver attributes, strategy.

Good luck

i think its a misconception. sure, you need an engine and its going to take a pounding, but if you take the 6 most expensive parts of the car and add up the wear, the oval accrues less than Interlagos did.

It was a round of the F1 world championship for 10 years so its more of a race than Poznan or Ahvenisto.

Not entirely true Jed, F1 never used the whole oval, just a sector of it

Really?

Not what it says here. F1 World Championship had the Indy 500 in the calendar for 11 years.

To be fair it was part of the F1 championship as the oval from 1950 to 1960, yes. However it wasnt real lets be honest, the only other F1 driver that ever competed at Indy was Ascari a couple of times and the erst were just Americans that werent really racing the rest of the F1 championship :P

Wiki says Ascari was there just once in 1952 (he retired after 40 laps in that race) ... but yes, the participants were in large majority Americans.

oh okay so not even twice haha :P But yeah, it was technically however it barely meant anything in F1 championship terms as it barely counted :)
