Entries / scorecards now closed for scrutiny so here we go with the last event before The U.S. OPEN
Welcome to Redstone on this fine day for the single round of the Shell Houston Open. The weather looks fine and sunny, the crowds are large and cheerful and it looks as if it could be a nice day to score reasonably well – It promises to be a good day.
A little better for this group as Dave has a very steady round picking up a Birdie and then later a nice Eagle to become club house leader on 3 Under Par.
After his recent success Thomas drops a Bogey and Double Bogey only to pick up a Birdie as he finishes on 2 Over Par.
John plays a nice round and although he dropped a Bogey on the turn, he also had a Birdie and a nice Eagle to end on 2 Under Par for the day.
Group 3 goes out and ends with some nice play as Eduardo has a mixed bag with 3 shots dropped on the front nine but 4 Birdies and an Eagle on the back to return to the club house on 3 Under Par.
Jens played well but no medals as he made no errors with a Par score all the way to the last. Even Par.
Matthew was close but after dropping 1 shot he picked up a Birdie and an Eagle to get to 2 Under Par for the day
A strong group out here as Greg drops a Double Bogey early on but 3 Birdies and an Eagle late on brings him back to level the lead on 3 Under Par.
Mike puts his last bad round behind him and although he drops a Double Bogey he also grabs a nice Eagle and 2 Birdies to bring him back to 2 Under Par.
The round of the day comes in as Tony puts an error free front nine and then pulls in 3 Birdies and a Majestic Hole in One to finish on 5 Under Par and the overall lead
Tim follows the last group inspired as although he goes error free on the front nine, he then picks up 3 Birdies and a great Eagles on the back nine to finishes on 5 Under Par. Ties with the Club house lead.
Mark plays well but drops more shots than he picks upas he finishes with a 2 Over Par score of 74
Gavin has an up and down round with lots of Pars a Double Bogey and 2 Birdies to come home on Level Par.
A mixed bunch here as Jorge drops a Double Bogey and a Bogey but also grabs a Birdie and a lovey Eagle to finish on Level Par for the day
Marvin doesn’t quite get there as he drops 3 shots on the front nine and only picks up 2 Birdies on the back nine to end his day on 1 Over Par
Vin plays better as he grabs 2 Birdies on the front nine and finishes that with a lovely Hole in One and then an error free back nine for a score of 68 and 4 Under Par
The final group go out knowing what they need and almost make it.
Sheri has a bit of an up and down as she drops 3 shots on the front nine but makes it back with 2 Birdies and an Eagle on the last to finish on 1 Under Par.
David also drops 3 shots on the front nine but he claws that back with 2 Birdies and 2 Eagles to almost get to the lead as he ends the day on 3 Under Par.
Chew plays almost the best round as he grabs a Birdie and an Eagle on the front nine and plays just an error free back nine to finish his day on 3 Under Par.
Onto the 1st play off hole and both Tony and Tim play nice shots into the heart of the green as both have chances of a Birdie. Tony takes his time, plays his putt but the ball takes a little turn just before the hole for a gimme 3.
Tim has his chance form the side and plays his putt …. But not hard enough as it stops just inches short – another gimme 3 and onto the next hole.
Another Par 3 hole on the 14th and once again, both players drop the ball onto the green with possible chances for a Birdie as they are both well over 25 feet away from the pin. With good putts, neither of them threatens the hole that much so Par scores for them both as they stride off to the next hole – honours even
