hI,
We have to replace our old ABC fire extinguishers in our server room. It's a 16x20 room with 3 racks 1/2 full, so an entire room system is out because of cost. We had a fire extinguisher supplier come in and he recommended a water fire extinguisher. Yep, that's right, he said spray water all over the servers. What is the industry standard now for handheld fire extinguishers for server rooms?

I am no expert but I would say probably a CO2 extinguisher for electrical equipment and then a water/foam one as well for anything else in the room which is not electrical

Just put Mikko and Andrew in a room, that'll kill everything. Even fire.

We are using CO2 in our server and equipment rooms. Dry powder chemical makes too much of a mess.

Russell Depp from India joins a game he hasn't played before to come on its forum and ask about fire extinguishers. Seems legit. :D

Go with Halotron I. It is a replacement for Halon which was too toxic. It leaves no residue after using and does not damage other equipment near by. Easier to use by all and unlike CO2, Halotron is rated for class A,B and C fires not just B andC.
