You're playing for a bonus rating point.

I edited that in (and I know I am, even then, I'd rather just take a week off and prepare for the next season). Surely there are others who have a different opinion and I won't quit the game because of it as the majority will decide what works and what doesn't.

I quite like the new system :)
Though I must confess that I genuinely thought I was out after the 1st loss - unexpected surprise to have another shot! :P

Part of me wants to make a game that is all about jumping up to higher brackets or fighting for survival in losers brackets... not at all like GBT. But also not something I have time to even come up with right now :p

That's a wrap on Season 17! Unfortunately for a few teams (and fortunately for others) there are no major upsets or changes in the final set of matches. Albuquerque wins the playoffs, claiming an unbeaten knockout play record for the third consecutive season, truly a new powerhouse of the game.
Monte Carlo survives, and a season that started so promising for Hull, puts them right back where they were at the start of it.
Dudley beats Antananarivo and claims the bonus rating point to help their quest for re-entry to the SSFL next season.
And Riga and London both escape the challenges of their non-League opposition.

Congrats Jed! It was certainly a long-shot in the final, but I'm happy to have at least made it a 1-score game.

Suppose i got to look back at the season, right it off, be happy i won the off season meaningless cup of meaningless (except the 1 rating) and look to bounce back because of it! Keep momentum going
Won the title what 2 seasons after promoting the 2nd time? Lets do it again

Yeah Play-Offs are always a long shot for a lower level team - so not too upset to stay where I am. Technically I promoted last season, so to already be challenging for another promotion is fine by me :P

Promotion 1st Season wonder how it will fare in the top league next season.....

Theoretical new GAME structure. But I wouldn't want to use the 7's format to play games. Just haven't figured out the best alternative yet.

Instead of leagues with Promotion/Relegation, it would be the leagues that are like different "countries" where the best teams qualify for the next season's "SuperLeague."
Overall, seasons would be about a week shorter than an SRS season.
Tuesdays would be domestic Cup competitions, Fridays would be the leagues (except for one additional Tuesday), and Sundays would be the SuperLeague.
I just don't know if I'd make it like... – Score League: total number of points to use for your seasons submissions. – SSFL: strategy 7's/team rating used in every 7-round match. – Something new.

What about combining the 2? :P

You mean, for example, 300 total points for the season to spend on matches that are all 7 rounds?
I think it would be very interesting... but ultimately I've stayed away from the idea in the past because I don't want to ask that much calculation of players as I feel that would result in significantly fewer players joining.
I do think it would make fascinating competition, though.
Here's what I'm thinking (using the one submission of one number per match, method):
SCORES AVAILABLE FOR THE FOLLOWING SEASON: 12 teams that qualify for the SuperLeague = 46 Scores to spend. 16 teams that fail to qualify for the SuperLeague = 40 Scores to spend. Winning ANY trophy (Cup/League/SuperLeague) = +2 Scores to spend.
I've never done a Score League format before where there is balancing of spending that has to be done between multiple competitions. Everyone would have 40, and there'd be no SuperLeauge in the first season.
With the numbers I suggested above, you get a bonus for making the SuperLeague, but I still think those players will definitely struggle the following season. And the whole point of the game can basically be to see who can win a Treble first :P
Because the minimum number of games for a team who misses the SuperLeague is 10. The minimum for a team who does qualify is 13. But with Cup competition, the season can add up to a total anywhere from 10 to 17 games.
40/10 = 4 Scores per game. 46/13 = 3.54 Scores per game. 48/17 = 2.82 Scores per game. 50/17 = 2.94 Scores per game.
It might have to be -4 Scores for the teams in the smaller league though, for balancing sake. Or just making all the leagues the same size... I guess. But I wanted variance :P
