I agree, how can anybody in their right mind pick Senna as number 1 over Alain Prost and Niki Lauda?

within the last 15-20 years how anyone can go against Michael Schumacher is beyond me.
Most of his championships were because of the car, Rubens has never been champion because MSC was #1 driver, yes, he was one of the best, but this moment is a bit overrated too, I don't think he had to come back

I've been through this too many times on this site to repeat the argument. Put simply, the above does not hold true.

did MS have the best car in:

1994 - nope
1995 - nope
2000 - nope
2001 - maybe
2002 - yes
2003 - nope
2004 - yes

not to mention his near misses in 97,98,99,06 when he didnt have the best car...or his 3 wins in 1996 in a car that shouldnt win a go karting race.

I think we can all agree he shouldnt of came back but that doesnt take anything away from him. You can look at team orders etc anything you like. Michael is a muich better driver than Rubens. Rubens does have heart and ppl liked him because he was seen as the understudy to Michael so people emphasized with him, ppl wanted to like him and feel sorry for him but he was blown away at times by Michael in the same car.

He's doing it because he loves it. He's now a great champion of the track as well as off it, his personality is one of the best in F1, I didn't get that impression before his sabatical.

There was the supposed traction control on the Benetton, and on some of the seasons the Ferrari was unstoppable, if, as Keeney says, Rubens is not that good (I'm not saying he says he's bad) how did he end 2nd most of the seasons?

Of course, I want Michael to win as he's a very important part in F1 history, but I don't him the most was because of him

And no, I don't support Vettel

yes, I admit he was the best... on his first years, but from 2001 or so he was quite helped (and I'm not saying he was cheating at all)

He didn't win those because of unsporting moves, 97 was a bit more harsh, but maybe he could have won 2006 without that move on Monaco's Q

Didnt the current F1 drivers vote for the best driver of all time and most people around the paddock mention one name as the best, think they know more than us, and no suprise who came out on top. ;)

Just wait until Vettel has won even more titles. I'd put Clark ahead of D.Hill. His father too.

I think Schumacher is (was) better than Vettel. Mainly because he has won so many titles and when Red Bull lose their advantage Vettel will suffer. Vettel has one way to win a race and Schumacher had many. (Including controversy) Ferrari were not always so dominant because Barrichello really had to fight for 2nd in the championship. 2005 schumacher was hit by problems which are hard to react after winning 5 in a row. Then with an equal performance car in 2006 he nearly won the title again.

To avoid biased on my part, my top 5 ex-drivers are:

Jim Clarke
Juan Manuel Fangio
Aryton Senna
Alain Prost
Jackie Stuart

The reason I didnt name current drivers was to avoid the temptation of putting Hamilton there, but in my opinion I could of justified that. You have to remember Lewis is a world champion and will be again before the end of his career. Hamilton had a difficult 2011 like all sportsman, he had a bad year (Just to mumble on a bit, people say Jenson is much better, and he had a great year and Lewis had a poor one but still had the same number of wins, what does this say about his quality on form). But he finished on a high with a sensational win in Abu Dhabi after huge pressure from Alonso. So he goes into 2012 with confidence and if he has a car that can just even half the gap to the Red Bulls he has a great chance. In my opinion its Hamilton Vs Alonso this year with Button probably in the hunt as well.

And Webber didn't have to fight? Why else would he get 3rd?
I must agree that Webber is worse than Barrichello(in my opinion) but still.. This is not a good reason.

Alonso couldn't pressure Hamilton in that Ferrari, Hamilton would've had his arse kicked by a slower Red Bull if Vettel hadn't suffered from bad luck.
