Hi, When I went into the Staff and Facilities page, there was a button to train staff but it was grey and I could not train my staff even though I had the proper funds. Why is this? And when does training staff work?

In order to train your staff you need to have your facilities to a level higher than their level of training. Upgrade some of your facilities and you’ll be able to train your staff.
I have no idea on what the limits on staff and facilities are in rookie so I am assuming it is possible for you upgrade facilities. :)

Danniel try to get into that part of the screen push the Information Button and all will be explained…..

Apart from that, it's not really suggested to spend your money on too many facilities (the maximum is level 20 anyway, so you wouldn't be able to train your staff to much anyway) in Rookie, and rather save your funds for later

If you already hired some staff than you need to wait after next race.

If your plan on promo the only facility to increase (+20) is commercial AFTER your first sponsor negotiation (green!) in about 50% or so.
Pitstop center is much argued about so see for yourself if interested.
None of the others is effictive enough to upgrade till you can effectively train staff (which is in ama first).
if you do not plan on promo, well research any way you want ;)

Rookie reset sets all trainable skills at 10 (they'll eventually start degrading), so, if your training level is not over 10, you won't be able to train anything.

I'd say that a good idea is to keep an eye on them (trainable skills) and not let them drop down, no matter if you stay in rookie or promote. For that, your maximum level training (MLT) shouldn't be lower than your highest staff level. You can raise your MLT by investing in facilities, but be smart and don't overspend here, because the higher MLT is, the higher salaries you pay.

Before Pro Or On your Promo run from Amateur to Pro
But even in Amateur I would recommend doing at least commercial up to your maximum of 40. That way you can negotiate with more sponsors

I've seen many posts since I started years ago always saying to keep commercial maxed at all times, the rest don't matter in Rookie.
