Regarding Sochi race......... If some people want to BOYCOTT..... you can boycott.... and the ones who want to race will race.......
Similar issues were raised when Jeddah, Saudi Arabia track was added

Probably no reason to cancel, even if this is a serious suggestion :D ?
However the suggestion to not apply the 17 race rule this season would allow people to boycott if they really wanted with no long term penalty to themselves.

If Russia is canceled Arabia, Bahrein, China,...., must be canceled too

I understand that F1 will not race in Russia, basically because they have to ACTUALLY GO there and be there for a period of time. but What do you have to be afraid of racing in the sim?
GPRO is and will not be in danger, I promise you..

This is a game, not politics. The race must go.
|

It's at times like these I wonder why we apparently aren't allowed to talk about politics on the forum. Clearly every so often stuff happens in the real world that affects the website even if only indirectly. But because of the ban people tend to be passionate about some issues and not others. I'm not looking to start a debate, but I think the ban should be applied more consistently, or there should be some clearly defined exceptions.

Keep the race!
Also, I encourage everybody else in Pro-1 to boycott this race
I can hate everything about everything and still race a fictional game which is not going to change anything, can I?
I don't want to jeopardize world peace, but I could use some easy points.

Sorry for kind of ignoring "...not looking to start a debate..." But you raise some important points. There are times when issues arise that are extremely worthy of being mentioned because of their moral/human rights/community interest aspects. When these have a political background or have been caused by a political decision it is all too easy to shut down the conversation by saying "that's political".
Take something like the death of Nelson Mandela, many people posted that they were going to "wear the black" for him, but he was a political figure so mention of honouring him raises political questions that overshadow the human rights elements of his history.
If it was what was wanted the only way to totally cut politics from the discussion is to limit all threads and posts to just GPRO matters and vigorously moderate. Everything else has to be excluded in that case because even F1 raises political problems ie the cancelation of a grand prix for ostensibly political reasons.
