For ppl in smaller and / or underrepresented countries in the circuits list,

I am making preparations for extending the circuits list.
The idea is to come to a list of circuits for GPRO which consists of grade 1, grade 1T and grade 2 tracks, by the standards of the FIA.
Preferable added with past F1tracks in use at least from 1970 onwards and possible future F1circuits currrently under construction.

Since circuits hardly ever mention their licence grade, the series run on a circuit usulay provide a good indication of the circuit grade.
The FIA applies the following :
GRADE CATEGORIES OF CARS
1: Formula 1
1T: Formula 1 testing
2: Single seater racing cars of Groups D (FIA International
Formula) and E (Free formula) with corrected cylinder
capacities over 2500 cm³, excepting Formula 1
Sports Cars of Groups C and E including SR1, SR2, LMP1,
LMP2 and those with corrected cylinder capacities over
2500 cm³
FIA GT Championship
Historic cars of Groups F1/4 (TGP and F1 of periods G, H, I),
TSRC 17, 18, 29, 30, 41, 42, 47 and 48 (Two-seater Racing
Cars, over 2000cc, of periods G and later) and all cars of
Period Z excepting Group B and WRC

In other words, grade 2 is for former F3000, F-Nippon, A1GP, GP2, F-Renault, Champcar, IRL, F-Atlantic etc and the LeMans cars..

Since that opens up a huge list of nonF1 circuits, the restriction I would like to apply is not to include temporary streetcircuits and ovals, and restrict US circuits somewhat.

My source till now has mainly been http://www.etracksonline.co.uk/

I kind of already covered Australia, Asia and Africa.
I am open for suggestions for Europe, Middle East, North America & South America. Circuits should be preferable grade 2 worthy, and not too short , 3km+ but also not too long.

Plz state the circuit + country + source of a trackmap, and if possible indications of pitlane lentgh (short / normal / long), overtaking, grip / tyre wear, downforce etc . In short either a small description or a link to a source with that info.

I know it seems very F1rem-ish. Yet, there are many circuits out there on the world which are worhty of a f1 race. And if you look at the nations with most managers, I am sure it would please them if once in a while a season contained a circuit of their own country. If we woudl stick only the ex-f1 circuits only, we would restrict the circuits the usual western european countries.
Thats why I looked a little further then that. Also, Bernie is doing the same thing (well that obviously is NOT a good reason to do the same), but F1 is developing to a less western orientated calender with more alternating circuits of one country. We simply take this line a little further.

So the list contains circuits as well which are FIA grade2 and / or long enough and are permenant road circuits.
Some countries simply did not have good candidates, some have had a good proposal for a new circuits, which has yet to be materialized or may actualy never happen (Russia).
But the difference with F1youknowwhat is that there is no bias towards countries with dominantly red and yellow color in the flag, nor zillion tracks of a regional area listed as a country, nor fictional tracks made up from the innitials of the admin.
the only bias there was, was not having to many very good, but nonF1 related USA tracks. I choose to stick to exF1 usa tracks.


These circuits will be added a few at the time. Currently already some 35 are available.
I would propose to go for e.g. 75% alternating contemporary circuits each season, so 13 from the 35,
and add the other 25% from the other 60 circuits, so 4 each season. The list would suffice for at least the next 15 seasons...

As you can see, some circuits are indeed short. The maximum number of laps wewant to run is 80. We would not have live races last longer then 160 minutes. On the otherhand, the minimum distance of a GP was set at 220 km, but IMO a realistic minimum would be more like 275 km. It means that circuits with less then 3,5 km tracklength are still subject to be dropped.


As for your comments, keep them comming.
I agree that experience should be important. We do not need so many circuits, at least not at short term.
If the long list serves the function of starting up the discussion only, fine by me ;)

Agreed. I don't mind a few new tracks per season as Hans suggests - they can freshen things up a little & provide for some unexpected results - but I feel strongly that we must not overdo it as this would undermine the value of player experience....

ps @ Hans - you list many there that have never hosted F1 & probably won't - yet there are some genuine ex-F1 tracks missing from your list. I know it's only the name of a circuit but the old F1 tracks with all their history mean something to many of us - whereas these obscure tracks you list lack the history, tradition & memories that can give the game its atmosphere....

Somehow I think Le Mans Bugati configuration was used in 1967 as well. At least GPL (Grand Prix Legends) sites say so.
