This here. DDMMYYYY would just confuse everyone who uses the other system for no reason.

YYYY-MM-DD is actually the ISO standard representation of a date.

In all other places on the site, months are written out as text (in 3 letters) but that's a bad idea here because the holiday slider cannot be translated to different languages. So using the ISO format as it is now is the best option.
