Thanks for all Argentina, we played really well, IMO better than Germany, but the goals that you don't score in one area, are scored in the other, so they are just winners. Anyway the referee don't gives us a clear penalty..
Congrats Germany, you deserved a WC after being qualified to semi finals since 2002.
Oh, and I hate Messi, he didn't deserve that Golden Ball.

To be fair I don't think Messi wanted it either but - meh whatever.

As for all the Messi bashing going on after that final I am genuinely intrigued what he was supposed to do better in that final. That Argentine side was poor, every time Messi layed it off to a team mate within about 1 or 2 more passes the ball was back with the centre half or the goalkeeper so I really don't know what he was supposed to do. Barcelona is different to that Argentine squad.

He's being criticised for not single handedly running through the entire German defence & scoring - which is kinda stupid. I think there was a desperation from the Argentine fans & also neutrals to see him do something amazing & it's all just got a bit out of hand.

I honestly think he had a decent tournament

"The Castrol statistics show that Robben had 19 solo runs into opposition penalty areas – ten more than the second-ranked Muller. Only Lionel Messi, meanwhile, managed more deliveries into the box (26) than Robben’s 19, while only Messi and Alexis Sanchez drew more tackles."

Messi wasn't bad at all, people are massively underrating him.
He didn't deserve the Golden Ball but he definitely performed well.
According to the Castrol ratings, Kroos was the best player of the World Cup. And the Castrol ratings are made by FIFA too.

But the Golden Boot is decided by Adidas, if I'm not mistaken.

Awarding it to Messi (who they sponsor) is all about the meet and greet afterwards and the corporate people wanting to meet Messi and all that nonsense; nothing to do with football.

Like Seinfeld said, no, you're not. They won, you watched.

Choose the Response:

"The Juan": Where was Romania again in the WC?

"Honest": Seinfeld is the only sitcom that is older than myself and I like watching.

"Own Opinion": I always think any sports team is nothing without their fans, and vice versa. It's a symbiosis. Irregardless how rotten your day has been - If your favorite sports team or national team wins after a brilliant game, you will still smile. And after a disheartening loss, players appreciate seeing their fans still cheering for them.

I have two jerseys (National team and Bayern Munich) at home that agree with you.

I also have two Bayern Munich jersey's that claim I am Oliver Kahn and one DFB jersey with Manuel Neuer (1). Multiple Personality Disorder much? :p

You mustn't like old sitcoms then. I mean, there's The Jeffersons, All in the Family (but don't watch if you sympathize with the Polish), Sanford and Son, Happy Days, and so forth. :D

That explains it, then. Even as an American, I've been scratching my head wondering how Messi won best player. I mean, there are a host of players more worthy than he. Robben, Muller, and James Rodriguez come to mind immediately. I'd put Schweinsteiger in there as well except nobody likes defensive work. A bit further on down the list, you could make the case for Neymar (who clearly was the most valuable for his team), Di Maria (same reason as Neymar, though not quite as clear since Higuain and Messi could still do some attacking), and Pogba (who looked good for most of the Cup and did help carry France to the quarters; watch out for this guy in the future).

And to be fair, I'll even issue a bit of complaint about Neuer for the best keeper. Sure, he played for the winning side and let in considerably few goals. However, how much action did he really see? I'd make the case that Navas was most deserving in that he almost single-handedly (or double-handedly since he had to use them both) made a Costa Rica side that was supposed to be dead in the water in the group stage into perhaps the most stunning quarterfinalist ever (and winning the group with the lowest combined FIFA rating in the process). I'd also stick Ochoa on a similar level as Neuer after the marvelous tournament he had (but maybe a half-step lower due to the fact that Mexico were out in the 16). And let's not forget Tim Howard played quite possibly the greatest game a GK had in the tournament against Belgium (but in a losing effort because the defense forgot they had to play extra time before penalties). I'm hesitant to include Howard in the top flight, though, because he had a mediocre game against Portugal and looked a bit shaky against Ghana (and so I don't get accused of national bias).

This will be borderline political, but I am keen on opinions (especially by people from Argentina) on this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfhCnYAVz8M

Left-wing media and newspaper in need of sensations have created another racism debate out of this. Because, you know, national pride in Germany is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad and needs to be cut down instantly.

Little background - It's a common chant in Germany, that is also used for national matches.

I don't know. Any national pride that results into thinking "One nation/race is superior to the others" is of course unneeded.

But cheering for your nation in sports events or your countries traditions/culture or being proud of things your country invented - As long as it's harmless, I think that's more than fine. It's what make people different and interesting for others.

Germans have got a lot to be proud of, whether it be sport or anything else. I don't think that they should be precluded from expressing that pride just because of poor choices made in the past, otherwise none of us could legitimately claim to be allowed to express national pride.

Yes, as soon as possible. Considering recent history of Germany.

Germany has to avoid these football songs so common in other countries because of its History.

I live in Hannover. I love the German people. But I still see German flags in the balconies and it begins to feel creepy some days when already the WC has finished.

Well that's not true. I just think you can't have national pride without by default also thinking other countries are worse than your own.

And what I find more concerning is when people rant at you for NOT being patriotic. As someone did on here last week.
