Sorry Rumen, but that song's been an earsore since it came out

There's nothing to be sorry about, as it was a strategic choice :D One had to choose a song that's popular enough to not get too many votes, but still being played a little too much on various media to not be everybody's first choice. I basically wanted to apply the Olympic principle.

But there's one sound

What does an early GPROvision voter say?

Nope it doesn't have to be ;) Not unless the edition rules explicitly mention that the songs that players enter have to be from some country, but not in this one. In about 90-99% of the editions the song can be from any country the player wants.

However this game is already going to end today - but a new game might start a bit later so you are invited to join there!

-------

'Cause this is thriller, thriller night!

I will go through my mailbox (9 new mails yeehaw!) but if every one of the mails is correct and includes the votes, then we are not missing any players who have a song in the final! Calum it seems like you have been told, as the last votes have come already before 17 CET today :D

However, the players who have No songs in the final but is still allowed to vote:
POR Ricardo Antunes
NED Skyler Marsons

-> can still throw their votes into my mailbox either until 20 CET or until I have counted all the votes now, whichever comes first. That means you two have very little time for this ;) Can we actually get a GPROvision game that finishes before its deadline??

Ok all the votes are in! Now I'll start compiling them into the voting machine Scorewiz. It will still take a while to get them all in, but in the meantime:

-------

All this machinery making modern music! Can still be open-hearted - not so coldly charted? Let's again see what other 2022 songs you may have missed at least... (didn't 100% check if they would all qualify but still)

Alesso! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIJEOEZdLzE
Scorpions! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TllvFtkXMBE
Bottas! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6hq7sCwmU0
Top Gun! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNEUkkoUoIA
Pink Floyd! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saEpkcVi1d4
La Scaloneta! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iF1vbggrVOo
Benson Boone! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prYbXj3zPfs
Metallica! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u-7rWKnVVo
Guetta! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90RLzVUuXe4

Taylor won apparently the Best Music Video in VMAs and EMAs but for a different song. Her one here is a decent video as well. Grammys to come in a couple weeks too but we've got some of their alleged best songs of 2022 here as well ;)

Finally, all votes are now set into the tool - now just checking this works as it should...

Which song will be crowned as the best tune of 2022? Will all songs get points? And most importantly, how the hell did your favourite songs still not win?

All the answers of the Grande Finale shall be revealed in the next 15ish minutes hype hype hype! Lighting this fuse might result in a bang, b-b-bang-oh.

Great choice Marvin, I knew that one was getting 12 from me as soon as I saw it in the semi-final groups (assuming it made it through anyway, which I wasn't sure of).

Surprised Gwydion did as well as it did but pretty pleased with 7th.

Congrats Sam on winning this edition for the second year in a row, and cheers for hosting Mikko!

Wow, I absolutely didn't expect to finish 25 points behind Tim. I know Will of The People is called a copy of The Beautiful People by Marilyn + the topic is nothing we haven't seen from Muse already but I expected people to find We Are Fucking Fucked cheesy, in fact that was my first thought when they released it :P Not like I dislike the song though, but I expected WOTP to have a better reception from first time listeners.

With that being said, congrats Sam! As Seb, I was expecting JB's song to win but I liked both so I'd have been happy with either result.

Also there's the fact there was a song by the same name from Tim Pool that came out a couple years ago which is better. I'm sorry but when your lyrical content hasn't really changed for almost 15 years it gets stale.

I think it needs more emphasizing: why that can be labelled as

Quote ( Mikko Suhonen @ January 23rd 2023,21:24:07 )

one of the most epic end results in the history of GPROvision

Is because if you look at what are the standings with just Chris and Ivelin left to vote (after 20/22 voters):
77 Cage (J.Beagles)
75 Planet Zero (I.Dobrev)
72 We Are Fucking Fucked (T.Wagner)
66 sTraNgeRs (C.Adnams)
60 Gwydion (C.MacKinnon)
59 Jealousy (S.Wrycraft)

Any of the top4 songs basically could have won that with a handful of points - but nope! Total Räikkönen moment here!

Sam needed two top2 finishes there with only max 24 points left up for grabs and also needed almost no points at all for others in top5: but what the hell, a 2-voteset & a 18 points comeback is real and the biggest one in the history of GPROvision as far as I can remember!! It was amusing to watch Chris' and Ivelin's votes scatter in the way they did in the show in the link. Out of words!

Thanks Chris, Katerina and Ivelin for your 12's and thanks to Mikko for hosting and giving 12 to Hold the Girl.

Eddie deserved more points :(

The return of Funk was alive in that song. RHCP was officially back and I loved that tune so much :(

But congrats to Sam! A deserved winner, even though it was not a song I was fond of :)

Very happy with 3rd and I could have won with a few small points here and there, but I guess it was love it or hate it for Planet Zero.
