I'm curious about how the weather is handled in this simulation. I've never played it myself - only seen videos and screenshots. At Indy, weather is more of a factor than just about anywhere else.

In addition to the temperature and humidity extremes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1992_Indianapolis_500), there are issues like how Turn 1 starts in full sun and ends the race in the shade of the grandstands, and like the threat of rain on qualifying days - you'd be surprised how much Sunday's forecast affects tactics on Saturday.

Believe it or not, Indiana's switch to daylight savings time a couple of years ago changed qualifying as much as any other factor, because the track no longer cools like it did in that last hour of the day. You get more qualifying during the middle of the day, but it shoots Fast Friday's happy hour all to hell.

Cracking game, many improvements over the last 12 months including hosted racing, meaning individuals can set up races.

Lots of tracks being added and cars as well with the Williams F1 car from 2009 currently being built.

Equipment: Decent PC and steering wheel and pedals. You could spend a fortune on the wheel/pedals but personally I picked up a decent condition Logitech G25 2nd hand and its been great. Cost me about £100 a few months ago. I am sure there are plenty available in the U.S.

I was tempted to play this game so many times but back then, the quantity of money didn't buy that much more of a quality game. But looking back on it, iRacing's a much more professional online racing game, whereas rFactor (my version was free) is much less professional, has less money spent and has a lot of kids playing it, who knock you off the road etc., so I'll love to play iRacing when I've got a decent income rolling in.

I heard they couldn't get the F1's license? How did they manage to get permission to build the Williams?

Because it's just 1 car they'd only need a licence from Williams like on Toca RD3

I'd love to know if there are many other GPRO players registered and playing the game.

Be good fun to set up a hosted GPRO race one evening

One of the appealing things about the game - the standard of racing is good in terms of wreckers - I really don't recall coming across any and you get to race against folk at a similar level to yourself which can make for close racing.

That's now been addressed to some extend as at the end of 2009 they reduced their pricing and there is a constant offer on for a 25% reduction on cars and tracks when you bulk buy a few.

I took out a years subscription in December when they had an offer on for that, so well worth getting on their mailing list.

Maybe, when I join, we can make 1 race, that pins all the gproers who have the game against eachother, as I recall, you can host your own races

Just sayin' here that I am watching the last race of the Drivers World Championship Road at Mid-Ohio on the website:

http://www.iracing.com//multimedia/live-broadcasts/

Still remember the names of Huttu, Duhan, Vergers and Haapala from Redline's website, where they raced in rF's F1 1979 championship:O

Champion Huttu seems to be taking a day off:(

Downloaded the newly released Williams F1 car from the 2009 season.

Put in a few practice laps then ran a 15 lap race at Silverstone with a total of 18 drivers. 16th on the grid and finished 4th, 20secs behind the winner.

Loving this new addition to the game

Graphics have been updated and more tracks/cars have been added. Depends on what you fancy driving (oval or road) I have got back into racing this since the release of the Williams F1 car and have not really touched any other racing games since then.

Spa will also be released within the next week

?? Wasn't aware there was any. There can be some spectacular high speed crashes on the oval circuits but I haven't found any problems in that area on the road

Thinking about it, but my laptop might not stand it the requirements, I heard one track might require more space than the whole LFS game does...
