I had always thought the guy was already dead some years ago, but they made us believe he was still alive.

I think this is very convenient timing... United States are going to leave Afghanistan by end of this year and guess what? Their main reason for being there is now killed...

Yeah, I think this thread is going down the wrong track, we all have different views about world events and I don't belive the GPRO forums are the place to express them

Wrong country...
There is no oil in Afghanistan. Lots of mineral wealth, but no ones really interested in that...

I believe a bit of normal discussion from different views won't hurt. As long as it doesn't run out of hand.
And at least the news itself deserves a thread, I feel.
Next to all other RIP threads being created when a famous person dies.

I would generally agree Gunter, but a person like Osama who creates so many different feelings in people will not create an objective discussion, it will in fact create a subjective discussion which in general does not end nicely.....

Apparently the Americans took his body and buried him at sea :P
I suppose it is good he is dead though as he was one of the worst people ever from all he ha done, lets hope tis doesnt anger Al Qaeda now and make them have more attacks :/

This is getting ridiculous. First Brian Branch, now Bin Laden...seems like we may need some special RIP forum.....Also do not forget about Son of Kaddafí. I believe Colonel might feel offended if no thread about him has been opened yet... :P

It is a wonderful thing for the world that this man is dead. For the amount of death, turmoil and destruction that he contributed to, worldwide, he should have been kicked in the balls, every hour, for a thousand lifetimes.
That said, and the problem from the beginning, is that for every radical/insurgent/Taliban/Al Qaeda/terrorist (whatever you want to call them, and they're not all the same, I know) that is killed, 3 more people get behind their cause and sign up to take their place.
Killing Bin Laden gives off a sense of closure to some, retribution to others, relief to many, but the problem is that this news is bound to set off a counter-reaction from his supporters that will be worse than if he were just left to die in a cave somewhere, hooked to a dialysis machine. (and i know he was found in a mansion - but the perception was that he was on the run, moving from cave to cave)
