Okay, now that the 2011 GPRO Meeting is unfortunately ended, it is time to suggest places for the 2012 GPRO Meeting.
The current choices are:
Tallinn, Estonia Warsaw, Poland Stockholm, Sweden
The Swedish meeting is most likely at the moment due to a couple of people willing to organise an event. But if you would like to suggest your hometown, tell us why, and give us your organising skills, by showing us the plan IF we go to your town.
Thanks. XD

I suggest Riga, only I wouldnt organise it again :P
Although those three places would be really great for me to come - so close :) I would prefer Estonia as the closest one although I would enjoy coming to Sweden or Poland as well. Have been in Poland few times but only driving through it :(
From these three choices I dont mind any :)

I could organise it anywhere if necessary.
I would suggest Hong Kong, but only because:
1) Women there are SMOKING when you go out at night. 2) Food is AMAZING anywhere you eat, unlike Latvia 3) I would organise it and maybe get a few people in my little flat. 4) I speak the language, and know where everything is 5) I live near a paintball and karting track, so could be easy? 6) There are a lot of cheap shit to buy.
That is about it, but the problems are:
1) Mainly travel costs. Could cost around £500 round trip if you decide to go. (Only in UK) Dunno about anywhere else. 2) Must be in April, as that is when I usually go. 3) HK visas are a nightmare :/
So, any takers? XD

No problem. I would love to go there with a group of friends, but I think somewhere in Europe is good. I sure hope we go to Sweden, after all the hype Fredrik gave us :D

Well, those were the three that were suggested. Not saying that those are the only 3.

Just to clarify: No decision has been made regarding the 2012 meeting, and we certainly haven't already limited it to any sort of shortlist just yet. We did discuss possible locations, but we are still completely open to visiting anywhere if you can sell it to us.
So feel free to recommend any other city / country, and convince us why we should go :)

I would like to put forward Edinburgh as a suggestion. Below is a list of pro’s (and possible con’s) as to why.
Pros:
• Firstly, transport. Edinburgh airport is located 30 minutes from Edinburgh City Centre and is easily accessed either directly or by one stop from almost all major countries. For the admins, I know a multitude of carriers fly from Oslo to Edinburgh for Cristian (does he still live there?). Both Lufthansa and EasyJet do Munich to Edinburgh for Stefan. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any direct Sofia to Edinburgh flights for Vlad, but it is connectible via Amsterdam, Gatwick and I’m sure others too. Chris can take the CrossCountry train direct from Sheffield to Edinburgh Waverley, which is in Central Edinburgh. • Edinburgh itself is a very multi-cultural city brimming with history, architecture, and is particularly famed for the nightlife. Some of Europe’s most renowned pubs, bars, venues and comedy clubs are located right in the centre of the city. Accommodation is easily found in the centre also, and caters for any budget from £10 (12EUR) a night upwards due to the large appeal of the city to backpackers and hostellers. There’s a large selection of restaurants, eating places, cinemas etc. in the centre too. • There’s a large concentration of active GPRO’ers within easy travel distance of the city. • There’s a newly revamped outdoor karting circuit located just outside Edinburgh here: (http://www.raceland.co.uk/contact.htm) with 70mph karts on a near 1km track. Can be directly accessed from Edinburgh City Centre.
Cons:
• Much of this is dependent on when you choose to come. It can be very difficult to get accommodation in the Edinburgh International Festival times if you do not book early (festival is 4 weeks starting the first Sunday in August, I recommend booking a minimum of 4 months in advance) • If you’re not with someone who is familiar with the city and combine that with not planning ahead, it can be quite expensive to drink and eat out. A pint of beer, for instance, costs anywhere from £1.50 to £5, even in bars on the same streets.
When to come:
• In terms of Weather, Edinburgh is usually pretty warm and dry from mid-May to mid-June or mid-August to end of September. • It’s strongly rumoured next year that the Edinburgh Festival and the Edinburgh International Film and Cinema festival will run at the same time in August. Both festivals cater to all tastes in film, comedy, music, anime and art which I imagine will appeal to many on here. Pubs and clubs both open late and the city has a real friendly and energetic buzz about it.
If you have any questions about it, give me a PM. =]

I was reading it other way like he was writting about current choices which sounds to me like somebody has made a choice already...
Seems like Vlad has sold the game to Jun in Riga.... :))
P.S. I understand the party mood but to propose now what to do and where in next year is really too early... :)

Most of this is still accurate, but it's even more expensive since the swedish krona now is stornger then 2 years ago.
I would personally chose to go somewhere else then Sweden. But could set things up here in Sweden if that is what the comunity wants.
The main reason not to have it in Stockholm/Sweden is that it's expensive here and there aren't so many active swedish managers that would attend (I think).

Actually quite the opposite due to very large aforementioned backpacking and travelling communities. Edinburgh is also a bit of a student City, and Edinburgh University has a majority female roster(!). The most common non-British nationalities are probably Australian, Spanish and Polish and women from all three have a reputation of being either hot or filthy =P. Also quite a lot of Americans, Swedes, Dutch and Canadians too.

There are titty bars Jimmy, Webster will have all the details :-)
I'm also a member of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society who have drinking rooms in the Centre of Edinburgh and down in Leith, for those of you looking to sample something a little stronger than the local lager.
