EuroFoot League: Season 12

New or altered in season 12

- Country rule has changed a little. Now U can only select 1 club out of each country with one exeption.
If U choose 2 english clubs from different leagues it will be valid as well. (Actually U should look at it as premier league and championship being other country's. )

- Cup points have been slightly reduced from 2-4-6-8-10 to 1-2-4-6-8. The championship was a bit dominated by the cup.

- New rookie setup with 8 rookie leagues

What is Eurofoot League

With a budget of selection points, U select 7 european clubs on different league levels and try to score championship points by getting teams on promotion spots every week and season end. . The goal is to promote as much clubs as U can and avoid relegations.

U can also aim for one of the other rankings, weekly or seasonal.

General

The top division football clubs out of 10 different European countries are spread over 5 levels.
Those levels are called Elite, Master, Pro, Amateur & Rookie, to keep it GPRO-like (see lower in post 2).

Just like in GPRO, there are more groups on lower levels. All groups contain 12 teams, except for Elite & Rookie.

Elite has 16 teams, while Rookie now has 6 teams in 8 rookie leagues.
Rookie leagues will be filled with the relegated teams from Amateur, the rookie clubs chosen by the players and the rookie clubs that performed best last season.

The rookie clubs with penalty's remaining after penalty point reset will be banned from selection. (see penalty points)

Rookie clubs that are not selected in the previous season receive a +1 bonus the next season.

Selections

1. Selection points

Every player starts with 20 selection points. U can spend them on 7 clubs in our league table. (see post #2)

Club costs:
Elite clubs: 5 pts
Master clubs: 4 pts
Pro clubs: 3 pts
Amateur clubs: 2 pts
Rookie clubs: 1 pt

U DON'T have to use all your selection points but:

-U must select a club from every level. So U must have 1 club from elite, master, pro, amateur and rookie. The other choises are totally yours to make.

- U can earn more selection points in the next season by promoting teams. The people that can spend more points find their names in the box below in post #2

Country rule:

- U have to select 7 teams from different countries but their is 1 exeption.
U can select 2 english clubs but they have to be from different leagues (1 from premier league and 1 from championship) and added with 5 other countries of course.

When your selection is finished. Send it to me in pm. How U create your selection is your own choise. U can check calenders in advance, or just go with your gut feeling but some research proved to be a good thing in the past.

U can post /joined in the topic when U sent in your selection.

Seasons

The results are based on the real life league results.

Each season will count 5 matchdays, so the game stays fast-paced. Just like in real football, teams will score 3 points for a victory, 1 for a tie and no points for a defeat.

If a game is left unplayed due to bad weather, hooligans or whatever reason, the result will be set to a scoreless draw, giving each club 1 point. This could ruin your promotion run but that's part of the game and part of soccer.

Check the new calenders below.
Those calenders are provisional, that means they can change at anytime if anything happens. Also beware that some countries have forfaits meaning all games will be 0-0 for that matchday.

Teams with the best score over 5 games in their league and in the green zone will promote to a higher level group, while the ones in the red zone will relegate:

There are 3 different rankings.

Weekly ranking is just the total of points your selection gathered this week.

Seasonal ranking is the amount of points your selection has gathered over the entire season substracted with the penatly points your clubs have.

Championship ranking is a bit more complicated, and it's the main goal of Eurofoot. As U can see in the table below, your clubs will receive points on promotion spots, lose points on relegation spots. U also gain points by progressing with any club in the cup and by scoring top places in weekly and seasonal rankings.

In case of tied points, best goal difference will count. If that’s tied as well, then most goals scored. If everything is the same , the club with the highest position last season, or previous matchday will go in front.

Penalty Points

You might want to avoid the more popular teams, as teams chosen by too many players will have to start the season with one or more penalty points. It depends on the % of players that picked them:

Example: Let’s say we have 25 players. Then :
- team selected by 1 players : 4%, so no penalty points
- team selected by 2 players : 8%, so it gets 1 extra penalty point
- team selected by 3 players : 12%, meaning it will get 2 extra penalty points
- team selected by 4 players : 16%, starting the season with 3 more penalty points
- team selected by 5 players: 20%, starting the season with 4 more penatly points
- team selected by 7 players or more: 28%, starting the season with 5 more penalty points
-
At the end of each season 1 penalty point will drop off, meaning only the teams with more penalty points will have some left. If your team had gathered 1 penalty point, then consider this as a warning that if in future it would become more popular, it could increase.

A champion will receive 1 penalty point in the next season.

Clubs in rookie or relegated to rookie with penalty points will be banned from selection until their penalty points wear of. This is only the case if they still have penalty points left after the penalty point reset. So If a club with -1 relegates to rookie, penalty reset makes that 0 again so that club will stay avaible. If a club with -2 or -3 relegates to rookie (or already plays in rookie), they will still have 1 or more penalty points at season start so they will be banned. No club can have penalty points in rookie.

Send your selection in private to Wim Cools!

EuroFoot Cup

In the cup we got:

- all promoted teams from Master, Pro, Amateur & Rookie in the last season (=30 clubs)
- elite champion + cup winner (or elite runner-up if the elite champion and cup winner is the same)

The tournament table will be randomly drawn, but the Elite teams get a safe spot like in tennis so they won't meet each other in the first 2 rounds.

Their week result will determine on which team to survive and go through to the next round.
For cup matchups, this is the order of importance :
- game result : victory over draw over defeat
- goal difference : if game result is the same, then biggest goal difference will be decisive
- home or away : same result & goal difference away beats the same achieved at home
- goals scored : still tied, the team having scored more goals wins
- league level : if both had exactly the same score, then the one appearing on the lowest level will go through
- coin toss : and in case even that would be the same, then a coin toss will decide

All teams surviving at least one round will score additional championship points for your squad : see Seasons.

The cup is very underestimated as it provides lot of points for the championship.

EuroFoot League: Season 12

Selection Points

Selection points will be reset every new soccer season.
Following people receive a selection point bonus. All the others and new players use a maximum of 20 points.

*Remember to use a club from every level.*

League Table

*This should make rookie a lot more fun :)

Other rookie clubs to choose from:

*** keep in mind that most of the clubs have +1, +2 or +3 now because they were not chosen in previous seasons
*** Clubs in red are banned and cannot be selected!

Cup Draw

Cup won't be drawn before season start anymore, I'll just give U a list with the teams in the draw.

We have to select teams from 7 countries, even if I don't select two english clubs?

- U have to select 7 teams from different countries.
The only exeption is when U choose 2 english clubs but then they have to be in seperate championships.

No, I was referring to the fact that I have to have 7 countries, unless I have two English clubs, one from PL, one from Championship.

Penalty points from earlier 'seasons' I believe. If you pick Real Madrid (for example) you will have a start score of -3 for them, even before multiple people selecting them etc :)
