TBH Ioannis, they look the same number of metres away from each other pretty consistently, unless you're pointing out something else?

In case of doubt, you can always check Google Maps with the satellite view: https://www.google.be/maps/place/Aut%C3%B3dromo+Internaciona...

Comparing to your screenshots, they even resurfaced the track to put the grid evenly, so maybe they foresaw people complaining about it?

(Just asking for a friend, tho, he told me there was fans trashtalking F1 in a daily basis)

I took the measuring stick on Google Maps (satellite view). Distance from pole to 3rd is 15.0 metres. Distance from 2nd to 4th is 13.0 metres.

Indeed they should be the same. All distances are slightly different but they are "paired" closer. 1-2 are closer than 2-3 and so on.

Anyway. GPRO is not F1, right?...

Not necessarily.

For example: https://prnt.sc/12idbhl

That is not the actual start position, it's the pre-warmup situation.

The car on the right is fully behind the yellow line (front wing also behind the line), where as the next car has it's front tyres on the line and the next car is partially on the yellow line.

Point is... pre-warmup positions are not grid positions, they can make things seem different than they are

You can see the same yellow car here: https://prnt.sc/12idbhl Completely behind the yellow line, where as others are not. That can make it seem that the "next row" is further back than it actually is.

One explanation could be that on that particular track maybe the pole has been given a little bit of significance.

But when one looks at this: https://static.independent.co.uk/2021/04/28/16/newFile-14.jp... it does look like all cars have the same space between them. One just needs to consider the angle of the shot. The space between the first few cars look the same

I was referring to the google map aerial image that has some distortions but I measured inner corner of the start line of the cars to the next inner corner, diagonally, and the distances from 1 to 2, 3 to 4, 5 to 6 and so on are roughly 8 meters and from 2 to 3, 4 to 5 and so on is 10 meters on average.

ok, if it so that brings up an interesting thought...

IF the grid positions in F1 actually have that, it could mean that they have made adjustments to the grid in order to balance out the clean/dirty side of the track ?

Could that mean that the latest change to GPRO was to wrong direction ? Because there was no clean/dirty side, there was no need for alternating spacing between grid positions on clean/dirty side.

But now when the clean/dirty side has been introduced, maybe there would be a need for "compensating" alternating grid distances.

And if so, in order to make it (I hate to say this) "realistic" one of the following: in GPRO remove the clean/dirty side effect from start or adjust the starting positions to balance it out.

I do hope the chain of thought can be followed :)

@Mikko Heikkinen (P5)

I actually didn't feel any difference with the dirty side. But more sensitive people assure there is one.

Regarding the differences in the grid, I'm quite surprised, even argued against being different but I do like that in GPRO there is no difference. It still makes more sense to me.

Unless there is an actual disadvantage being on one side of the grid and it's some compensation that I've no clue about how they came to that or other differences.

I think I would vote against the change, unless there is some kind of unfairness.

That is one of the benefits of being a supporter.

Else there is always copy-paste and some minor tweaking.

Once you download it to Excel, doing a csv is easy as pie.

Not even power query is needed. The xls download is actually a plain text xml file, just treat it as a text file and use literally any parsing method you like.

When clicking people's profiles, would it be possible to include a line where the local time is displayed?

As GPRO is a very social website it would come in handy for a lot of people.

Like when hovering the cursor over the profile link? It could show some more manager info on a floating text box.

Like number of GPs, season position, money, .... an expanded info card. Not that I'm only going to bother with managers well positioned and financially well reputed but... some don't even have 2 cents to say anything at all. ;oD

Or in the profile page?

1. The country is not enough for that. Need the city too (not entered for everyone). (There are countries with multiple time zones.)
2. Does everyone live in a country like your flag?

Because of the above, I think it's a bad idea. :(

And your post #11111 was one of the best post I saw from ya!

Anyway, there are plenty of ways to display the actual timezone being used, one of which is manually input by the user for example.
