Quote ( Gabriel Cardona @ June 5th 2012,10:32:16 )

How it's going to be with 24 teams next time?
it doesn't make sense if they are divided into 6 groups of 4 teams each! because in the knockout phase you need to have 16 teams or at least 8 teams!
Maybe 8 groups of 3 teams each??

And what's wrong with it? It's just fine.
24 teams > 16 in 1/8 knockout > 8 in 1/4 > 4 in 1/2 > 2 in final.... as it is in World Cup.

Why do you think it doesn't make sense?

I will make a prediction for group stages which some people may disagree with, but it's my opinion (also after watching some friendlies):
Group A:
1st Czech Republic
2nd Poland

Group B:
1st Germany
2nd Netherlands

Group C:
1st Spain
2nd Republic of Ireland

Group D:
1st England
2nd Sweden

Feel free to disagree :)
Some notes (also my opinion and may be classed as reasons for predictions):
Germany's squad looks very strong, I'd tip them for semis at the very least, if not champions.

Group A is probably easiest and I can't see any of them making it past the quarters except maybe Czechs, although Poland might surprise us all.

England has performed well in the pre tournament friendlies so things look good for them, I think they can be semi finalists.

Spain aren't as strong as before I don't think, however a group with Ireland, Italy and Croatia is hardly tough and they should top that group. I think they might make it to semis but beyond that we shall see.

Again, feel free to disagree. :)

France will get through instead of either England or Sweden, I reckon.

I want England to do well, but I can see them not even getting through the group stages.

First time in my many years living in England that expectations have been so low or realistic dependant upon which way you look at it.

Well strange you don't hear any of the guys who were so talkative after the BBC footage about the racism problem during the Euro's.

Yesterday when the Dutch players went on the pitch for their training the dark skin players were give monkey sounds.

Jimmy, Ukraine has million serious problems, but racism - it is not about us. About Russia - yes, it's true, but in Ukraine racism - very solitary instances.

Guys, Ukraine - not getto. Our goverment is stupid and situation in country is very hard. But racism? No, nothing of the kind.

Shame that a group of quickly pacified degenerate ***cough*** from a city that won't have anything to do with EURO proper makes the world news, but there no mention of full stadiums of cheering 'casuals' during all open trainings of all national teams, that's what you can really expect.

Tickets for those have been distributed to whoever showed up (and was strong enough to push through the crowd, hence their presence) and that was their last chance to make a show, so you can stop hating, Jimmy; you've been in a confrontational mood lately. They love irony though, go to great lengths to acquire those training tickets to come and shout that they disapprove of the tournament.

Anyway, I hope that's the last time I have to write about it, let's enjoy the football.

PS: Can we move it out of Silly Games forum, remove the silly poll and correct the title?

I hope Spain will not, but Germany will... Spain is the most boring world champion with 6 goals in all games and I hope they are kicked out first round. Italy, Holland or Germany should win it!
