This has been in the pipeline for a few years I think. Electric motor racing essentially. Don't think there are any major drivers / teams involved, just lots of tree huggers on a jolly :)

The concept that Electric cars can be just as fast as their petrol guzzling twins isn't new, as McLaren proved with an electric version of their MP4-12 couple of seasons ago for an exhibition.

Not sure I'd be particularly interested in watching these cars race. Gimmie a nice v8 3.5L turbo charged engine roaring past me any day!

edit -
reading through the website it sounds like McLaren are supplying the electrics for all the cars. 42 identical cars supplied by Spark Technology for a championship next season....

I'm sorry but I think this FE thing is a bit of a joke. I mean, the have to take two cars per driver to each race and the driver will have to change cars mid-race because the batteries won't last long enough! The cars are also going to be really heavy and pretty cumbersome to drive. Oh and a lack of engine noise...maybe they can get James Allen to just sit there going "vroom, vroom" in between his coco pops adverts

The calendar could have all the events that didn't get into the F1 calendar of that year, so then more places get to host big races.

Formula E is absolutely 0% of interest to me since I found out it's going to be another spec-series, garage 56 at Le Mans and the all-electric Nissan are far more interesting imo.

i wouldn't say BIG races, this is an electric series like the TT zero. for one thing i will take a while to be noticed and it will take a bit of time to get the cars developed to have half decent speed. but mainly the noise will be diabolical.

Anyone noticed that the old Stig is in there?

By the way, that's not the official line-up, it's a list of Formula E endorsers who are willing to race in the series.

notice how they have put 3 or once even 4 corner numbers to a simple chicane in a lame attempt to look like there are a decent amount of turns in the race......
I detest most street circuits and this whole series is going to be made of them. Throw it in the bin now
