I will watch it probably. I watch touring car racing on Itv and the breaks aren't to bad on that. As for the drivers I think they should all provide us with an F1 like racing but hopefully without the dominance.

I wonder if they could turn the cars off for the adverts and turn them back on after so we don't miss the action.

Don't think anything has been said about it being uninterrupted, so I guess so (unfortunately).

The races are only 45 minutes long aren't they? ITV will probably do 60 minutes of coverage or something. Is it going to be live?

It's common sense really...

Really? Gosh that's an amazing insight... I had planned to watch all of it because i think it'll be a waste of space. Thanks to you I won't have to

Sadly if the races are 45 mins long ITV will have an ad break before one in the middle and one after the finish, still that's not too bad, they use to do the F1 coverage and in some races you'd have 5 ad breaks during the race

No problem, but next time it doesn't hurt to use your brain

As a motorsport fan, i will have a watch here and there to see what happens, as the electric car concept is interesting and will be the future technology in years to come

That is part of motorsport.

Pushing the boundaries of technology,

F1 is also doing similar thing going to smaller engines and bigger KERS-systems, FormulaE is just taking a bigger leap :)

It's an interesting concept.

Performance figures:

Acceleration: 0 - 100 km/h (0-62mph) in 3s - Estimated
Maximum speed: 225 km/h (FIA limited) - Estimated

'Push-to-Pass': 67kw
Aerodynamics optimized to facilitate overtaking

Final performance figures are still to be verified.

Tyres: Bespoke 18" treaded Michelin tyres for use on both wet and dry conditions/surfaces

Same tyre for ALL conditions/surfaces.

And one quite interesting part: Pitstops consist of driver changing car :)

I'd imagine the reason being that with current technological state the battery isn't sufficient for a full race, so they'll use 2 cars/driver in a race.

I saw some electric cars racing at the Formula Student event at Silverstone a few years back and they're pretty impressive, their acceleration is just phenomenal.
But it is quite weird watching a silent race.

That's partly what I thought about the F1 cars in Melbourne. They were so silent, that I fell asleep again while watching the race on TV. To me less or completely missing sound killed the impression of speed, at least when I watch the race on TV.

Quote ( http://www.fiaformulae.com/guide/sound )

Formula E knows that the noise of any racing car is very important to its fans, which is why the sound of the new Spark-Renault SRT_01E will be one of the Championship's most unique and exciting features. Contrary to popular belief, the Formula E cars are far from silent producing a modern, futuristic sound, combined with the fusion of the tyres on the track, the car's aero package and the electric drivetrain itself.

At high speed the sound produced by one SRT_01E will be approximately 80 decibels, more than an average petrol road car which produces around 70db. Meanwhile, and purely for reasons of safety, an artificial sound will be used when the cars enter the pit lane to ensure they can be heard by mechanics and officials. This will be produced with the aid of an expert sound designer.

And so by reducing excessive noise, fans of all ages will be able to enjoy a new experience in motorsport with added benefits such as clearer trackside race commentary.

In the "tax-hell" that Finland is... Electically powered cars still have to pay "diesel tax"
