All the bands listed above this post are Rock bands some heavier than others but all fall under the label of rock music. Forget the labels rock is just what it says its loud guitars and even better vocals.

If you want to see some really awesome bands look to the early 70,s British rock bands, Black sabbath, Led Zepplin and many more.
Most of the rock bands around today look to this era for there musical tastes.

A brief history of rock 'n roll.. as I remember it....
60's ... 70's ... and even the 80's !!! are all a blur to me, now... :))

The roots of Rock 'n Roll go way back into the 1940's and even earlier. Musicians like Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee drew their musical influence from their segregated history, peers and personal experiences. They played acoustic guitars and slide guitars doing blues/religious songs but, their music was not played in the white public arenas or venues. I don't know how popular black blues/soul music was in the white population, but it was the music of the south.

In the mid to late 40's, Les Paul brought into existence the electric guitar. Up until the late 50's the tunes were Frank Sinatra, Big Bands lots of brass, musical show tunes and Country 'n Western.

Then Elvis, then Everley Brothers and Rickie Nelson, the Beach Boys and Jan & Dean all made the airwaves sing for a awhile. This is where it gets interesting, originally Elvis took black southern blues and tunes doing an upbeat tempo and altered the emphasis on the singing and showmanship. The British bands did the same thing on the black music, using the electric guitars and amplifiers to drive the music.

All the popular music changed during the sixties, of course the British invasion The Beatles, The Animals, The Dave Clark Five and they all wore nice matching suits and made the girls pee their pants :)) The best rock 'n roll band in the world, came to North America with their scraggy look and carried an air of menace that was totally different then anything before.. The Rolling Stones!

At first on the Ed Sullivan Big Shoow on TV they dressed nice. After they got 'rolling' they relaxed the attire, to what was comfortable and it fit their 'bad boys' image.. blue jeans, T-shirt, vests and no one coordinated :)) "The cat was out of the bag" and musicians began dressing for the gig. I digress :))
The love/peace/psychedelic era came with... Bob Dylan, more Brits, message & mind warping music and the emergence of Black Soul music 'a la James Brown.

Over the past 50 years the music has changed and stayed the same. The roots are there and from them flowered modern 'rock 'n roll' music in all its variety. When you look closely all the "rock 'n roll music" is from the same roots and all musicians learn to play the riffs and licks, to this day, from country n western, the blues and rock 'n roll music.

I personally love reggae, the blues, soul music and some good ole rock 'n roll... oh and some heavy metal .. oh oh Led Zeppelin and Tens Years After.. the Bee Gees ... I can't forget my favourite rapper Devin The Dude...you get the picture... hehe I'm a guitarist :))

What ever kind of music, you like, is the best kind of music. :))

Live music is the best..

"Long Live Rock 'N Roll!!" Peter Townsend, The Who

Peace. \/
