Can people remember that the guy is not only new, but unless you are a native French speaker or an expert in the language (something that I'm sure most, if not all of the 14 down thumbs I currently see are), you should be very careful in assuming tone from a literal translation.

Maybe he is proud to be French so has never learned any English - and as many native English speakers don't bother learning other languages (or their own in some cases) - and there is certainly nothing wrong about that. Maybe he was not aware of the forum rules or that a French language thread already existed. I don't know, and pretty sure most of you don't either.

How about giving people the benefit of the doubt before slating them, when you may be (and may not be) not understanding them quite as you think you do?

I don't see any benefit in leaving the thread open. I probably should have closed it after my initial response, as nothing worthwhile can be added to it.
