Did anyone else go through this?
I was running and gaining positions and suddenly at lap 60 the car stopped and dissapeared from the race.
I finished last of course

Check your race analysis and that should explain what happened.
Possibly a race ending puncture for an example.

According to your race summary you had a puncture.

Even though your car disappeared from the track it would be shown in the pits

Just had a quick look and yes your car did in fact disappear !

It was hiding in the pits ..however the graphic of your race car was not shown only the other 3 options ie the circles. If you go to the end of the race and toggle through the viewing options ( the big eye) you will see that the option to view the car is not available, not sure if this is a bug ?

Hope this helps :)

Not a bug. At least not in the sense that it is a known feature. One could also say that it's designed to work that way.

Really Mikko , or maybe perhaps Jukka just forgot to add a line of code :)

I have just watched the race again( from lap 59) ..and it is actually "hilarious" the car slows down after the start finish line pulls in to the kerb sits there for a bit ....and then suddenly disappears :)

Fantastic :))

I initially put them over the pitstalls (where the retired dots are), but Hans didn't like it. And it would be strange to have them in pit area.

Perhaps you could use the race car image but just turn it 90 degrees ie North South over the pitstalls ?

Ie to indicate that it is in the garage :)

Edit , Just noticed that the graphic in the old race screen is showing the wrong image ..car dropped out of the race, reason: any technical problem or a start crash.

when in fact it should show ..high speed blow out, reason: tyre puncture

Perhaps leave them strewn about the track, in the run-off areas. Maybe shrunk in size or with de-saturated colours to distinguish them from the runners.

That's exactly what I did, but our graphics guru didn't like them over the buildings.

That's weird. Last time I looked at the image was correct. Though that's a few seasons ago.

Suggestion ..get a new Graphics Guru ....I jest :)

Great minds think alike , that is 2 votes for the car @ 90degrees to 1 :)

Looks like it stopped working back in S56 when the new groove-less tyre graphics were added

Just have the car on the side of the track in flames. If you are stuck for inspiration, just Google "Liverpool on any Saturday night" plenty of images there to give you an idea. :P

They don't have to be on top of the building :)

There's plenty of room by the building, on the opposite side of the track.

Looking at Barcelona track, below the pit building is the pitlane, above the building is lots of grey area which could accommodate a parking spot for DNF'd cars.

When a car blows up on the race track, you can put it behind the boundarys of the track. Just like it had been lifted off the track to a secure zone. When you cycle through the cars, it will be visible and does not vanish by magic.

Then you still have to cope with the problem of cars being able to move to the pit but being unable to continue to race. Maybe you can add a small area to each race track near the pits. Using a picture of a stockpile of broken cars and some text info when you move your mouse over it : manager, lap of incident, reason of incident, e.g. Oliver Tell, lap #22, tyre puncture.

This way Hans may be happy 'no cars on buildings' but we still get the info who's out.
