Wuhan Zall vs. Henan Jianye (China: Super League) 0-0
Azerbaijan vs. Hungary (Euro 2020 Qualifier) 1-3
Finland vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina (Euro 2020 Qualifier) 2-0
Philadelphia Union vs. NY Red Bulls (USA: MLS) 3-2
Australia vs. Italy (Women's World Cup) 1-2
Santos vs. Atlético Mineiro (Brazil: Serie A) 3-1

Which means....

Some good scoring right out of the gate, except for Group G, in which apparently the teams have all collectively decided for nap-time. Only Eswatini's last minute goal prevented Group G from being a completely goalless group this week! In the other groups, it's Germany and the Czech Republic that have the high goal total for the week at 5 -- which seemed necessary to beat many of the teams who scored 4 this weekend.

Liechtenstein and Malaysia will feel aggrieved having faced eachother and drawing with 4 goals each, while Ghana and Bangladesh each take a point in their 2-2 draw. Current World Cup holder Poland now has a tough hill to climb after losing 4-3 to Singapore, a tough pill to swallow, as they would've taken at a point against either of the other two teams in their group, who tied 3-3.

Pick Stats H	D	A
Wuhan Zall vs. Henan Jianye (China: Super League) 0-0 20 5 2
Azerbaijan vs. Hungary (Euro 2020 Qualifier) 1-3 0 5 22
Finland vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina (Euro 2020 Qualifier) 2-0 12 5 10
Philadelphia Union vs. NY Red Bulls (USA: MLS) 3-2 9 7 13
Australia vs. Italy (Women's World Cup) 1-2 14 5 10
Santos vs. Atlético Mineiro (Brazil: Serie A) 3-1 22 6 1

AWOL: Hungary, Andorra, & Israel

Got the win but might have a tough time with the rest of the group. Although I understood it was not expected for Italy or Philadelphia to win. (What was NY's keeper thinking?

Group Stage, Week 2

Certainly all over the world for this week's fixtures, with 1 week down, and 2 to go in the group stage -- and possibly the most cruicial week coming up this week! A win or loss this week could have you in control of your own destiny, or dependent on the fortunes of others. Which will it be?

Uruguay vs. Ecuador (CONMEBOL Copa America) - Mon 0:00
Haiti vs. Bermuda (CONCACAF Gold Cup) - Mon 0:00

All times CET.

DEADLINE - Saturday June 15th 18:00 CET

Send the outcomes to me by PM: home win, draw or away win.

A much higher scoring week, as the teams refine their offensive strategies. And while no team gets the ideal 6-goal tally, several score 5! Australia and Uruguay might feel the most hard done by, having scored 4 each, and only getting a single point. But Romania has it worse scoring 4 and not even getting a point, as Croatia nets 5! Group G also scores a few more goals this week than their paltry 1 goal total last week, but they are still lagging well behind the pace of the other groups!

And the standings... Congratulations to the 5 teams which have already qualified for the Round of 16! Singapore, Germany, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, and the United States will be pleased to have the first objective out of the way by winning their first 2 matches -- but they will surely also want to win their group as well! For the Czech Republic and Bulgaria, they'll face each other to take the title in Group F.

Elsewhere, the Philippines seem to have a leg in the knockout already, although they'll need a point to make sure (or just hope for Estonia to win instead). Group D looks separated, but the right set of results means that they could all end on 4 points after the group stage! Plenty of places still up for grabs as we enter the final week of group stage play!

Who's Who?

Group Stage, Week 3

For 5 teams -- it's all about placement. But for (nearly) everyone else, it's do or die time to get into the knockout round! Will this be your last game of the summer? Or will you be in it to win it until the end?
