Isn't the Practice 1 & 2 timing suggests that there is exciting time ahead for race day, only if the Merc were not sandbagging.

I don't think they're sandbagging, I think the Ferrari has much better PHA matching.

Inb4 Ferrari have a start crash, driver sickness, smoke, and random tire failure.

I m surprise too, and if I'm not mistaken, that was also the lap Lando massively blocked by Grosjean at the last corner. How can?

I told you Merc weren't sandbagging... I think Melbourne was an unexpected result and what we see now is the actual pecking order that is more representative for the coming months. That said, Shanghai and Baku are also quite peculiar tracks...

Melbourne has never been a representative track in terms of pecking order. Shanghai might be the first due to the nature of the track, lot of range in corners, loooong straight and really hard on the tyres, we shall see who is best

Great job by Leclerc! It was obvious this kid was super talented with his results last year in that Sauber!
Now the question is, if Charles can keep up this performance, where is Vettel going to go after getting whipped by another kid? 😁

BUT...what if Hamilton or Bottas drive a wedge between the Ferrari's when the lights go out? :)

Of course, if Ferrari can reach the first round of pits with a 1-2 then for sure they will 'manage' the race so that Vettel wins - without doubt.

Hey what can I say, I'm just that good of a producer! 😁
Nah but seriously, you can't deny this kids pace, and as I said, if he does keep it up, I wonder what Vettel will do, personally, I hope he doesn't have a cry like he did when Daniel kicked his back side, I want to see it push him, I want him motivated to beat his young, fast team mate, it could be the next best team rivalry, as long as he doesn't crack it!

Edit, no idea why it's quoted Stuart, but that was clearly Marcelo Ascencio comment

Just the usual. And the FIA keeps not sanctioning him because they believe him to be the new Golden Boy :)

Too bad, Hulkenburg was on his way to be Driver of the race, sadly car gave up.

Starting from 17th and was 6th on lap 50

One could still consider him driver of the race. It's not like it's his fault the car broke, after all both Renaults did on the very same lap

Crashtappen is catching up to Leclerc under safetycar

how legal is that

There was seconds between them when SC was introduced, now it's like 0,3s

OTOH, SC totally saved Leclerc :)

Sainz should have give him more space and nothing would have happened. During the whole race every other car ave in that corner more space! Stupid decision by Sainz.
