Tony did not start well as he dropped 3 Bogeys on the front nine. The back nine was a little better as although he dropped another 2 Bogeys, he finished on a nice Eagle to finish his round for the day on 4 Over Par

Tim had a similar round as he dropped 2 Bogeys on the front nine and then another Bogey and a Double Bogey on the back nine but he also managed an Eagle as he finished on 3 Over Par
https://i.imgur.com/SJlD7Qt.png
David had an up and down round as he dropped an early Bogey but then grabbed 2 Birdies and an Eagle before the turn. His back nine was worse as he dropped a Double Bogey and 2 more Bogeys to end his round on 1 Over Par

Mark had a very up and down round as he dropped 2 Bogeys and a Double Bogey but managed a couple of Birdies as well as a glorious Hole in One which brought him back to Level Par for the day
https://i.imgur.com/VXAbunn.png
Kyle also had a mixed round as he dropped a couple of Bogeys and a Double Bogey but brought his score back a little with a nice Eagle on the final hole to finish on 2 Over Par for the day
https://i.imgur.com/3cyWXKZ.png
Alan also never really got going as he dropped a Bogey on the front nine and a Double Bogey on the back nine. He did manage a Birdie early on but finished on 2 Over Par for the day

Gavin struggled a little with the front nine as he dropped a Bogey and a Double Bogey and then dropped another Double Bogey on the turn but managed a nice Eagle before he finished the day on 4 Over Par

Matthew had a mixed round with a Bogey, a Birdie and an Eagle on the front nine but never got to grips with the back nine as he dropped 2 more Double Bogeys and 2 Bogeys. He ended the round on 4 Over Par.

David had the best of the trio with a round of 2 halves. The good was 3 Birdies on the front nine and then the bad was a Double Bogey and a Bogey on the back nine. He ended the day though on a Level Par score

Greg struggled all day. Although he grabbed a Birdie on the front nine, he also had 2 Bogeys and his back nine consisted of 2 Double Bogeys and a Bogey to put his score on 77 and 6 Over Par
https://i.imgur.com/jAif4H0.png
Roy was only marginally better as he dropped 2 Bogeys on the front nine along with a couple more Bogeys on the back nine while the rest of his play were steady Par holes as he finished on 4 Over Par
https://i.imgur.com/wGlxdTK.png
Sheri struggled to get going as she dropped 3 Bogeys on the first 6 holes but from there she picked it up with solid regulation holes all the way to the last as shed ended the day on 3 Over Par

The harder placed pins were taking their toll on the players as nobody yet had managed to tame the course and Par was the best score so far and only by 2 players – would the course continue to challenge the players all the way to the end.

Dave started with an early Bogey on the front nine and then went into a run of 13 Level Par holes but finished very nicely on Birdie, Birdie to be the first one of the day in the club house on a score of 70 and 1 Under Par
https://i.imgur.com/Ds1hjXE.png
Jens could not emulate that as he struggled on both nines with 2 early bogeys before the turn and then a Double Bogey and another Bogey before he grabbed a solitary Birdie to finish on 4 Over Par
https://i.imgur.com/J74lB11.png
Eduardo had contrasting nines as he dropped 2 Bogeys on the front nine and then came back with 8 Level Par holes and a lovely Eagle on the last to finish his day on a Level Par score of 71

Mike had a mixed round as he dropped a Bogey early on and then after the turn dropped 2 Double Bogeys and another Bogey but finished strongly with a wonderful Hole in One . He was still 3 Over Par for the day
https://i.imgur.com/6UYtDXd.png
John had contrasting nines as he grabbed 4 Birdies on the front nine and was looking strong until he dropped 2 Double Bogeys at the turn. He picked up another Birdie but gave it back with a Bogey to come home on Level Par
https://i.imgur.com/wkenfVS.png
Thomas did not start well as he dropped an early Bogey as well as a Double Bogey on the front nine. His back nine was even as he dropped another Double Bogey but also picked up a lovely Eagle to end his day on a score of 74 and 3 Over Par

Marvin had a mixed round with a Bogey and a Birdie on the front nine. His back nine contained a Double Bogey, a Bogey and a nice Eagle but he still remained 1with a score of 72 and 1 Over Par for the day
https://i.imgur.com/UqOL4CG.png
Vin started well as he picks up 3 Birdies on the front nine but then drops a Double Bogey at the turn. That drops his confidence a little as he then goes Par scores till he drops another Double Bogey at the end and finishes his day on 1 Over Par
https://i.imgur.com/lbeRGi6.png
Chew doesn’t start too well as he drops a Bogey early on in the front nine. His back nine starts with a Double Bogey and then he drops another Bogey later to finish his round on 4 Over Par

Stéphane was on his first Major as a new tour member and with a 2 stroke lead, knew he only needed a reasonable round to win ............ unless
He started well with a Birdie but then dropped a Double Bogey before the turn. His back nine was a bit more solid as he went error free to the end and then grabbed a Birdie to bring his score back to Level par but ……… was it enough to win his first title???

Jorge went out looking for a good round despite pin placements as he knew he needed to pull back 2 strokes and he started well with a Birdie on the front nine. He dropped his concentration though on the back nine as he dropped a Double Bogey and a Bogey to finish his day on 2 Over Par. Unlikely to be good enough and no Hole in One for this round

The Final scoreboard for THE OPEN where there was only 1 player who went below Par thanks to the hard placement of pins but it may be worth pointing out that Jorge Corte did manage to get 3 Aces in 3 different rounds. A Major record I think
The newcomer to the tour blows away his opposition and wins his first title which is more impressive considering it is one of the Majors. He has a little way to catch everyone else up on the PGA Tour Table but, in this form, - it will not be too long

|
|
Not too much movement on Overall Tour Table other than Marvin and Jorge and a new addition at the bottom of the table as the newcomer swings in with a Major victory under his belt.

Thanks, happy to get into the winner - and major winner circle already. : I've brought my virtual Claret Jug back home. I thought it would slip off my hands after my double bogey on 6 as I lost my 2-stroke lead over Jorge but finally it was enough with a difficult setup :) I really like the 4 rounds format, it recreates golf variables pretty well through track length/weather conditions and the available strategies for each race. Even though I know it's impossible to do it for normal events, and I find it a good way to make majors "major". I've seen that WGCs and THE PLAYERS are played on two rounds which is good for the suspense too.

Wow, it’s amazing to see a debutant win this competition! And it does break the Sheri streak so its always nice ;)
Was a really challenging course though, so take nothing away from that win!

Completely agree congratulations Stephane. See you on the greens. :)
