Got a new job now... took a lot longer than expected, but basically a nice promotion - all good, except...

... the problem is the main workflow is in autumn so making the meeting is looking a bit dicey right now, have not had the balls to bring it up just yet, need to prove my worth before that.

You can downgrade me from "probably" to a "maybe".

Got my two jabs though, so that is something.

You will be fine! Can't you just tell them you had this trip prebooked?

that is the excuse I am planning to use to ask for the vacation, but... priorities right now...

.. the plan is to approach it from an angle of "I did not bring it up before, because it was not a condition for employment and it is fine if you say no" and try to wiggle into some sort of an agreement, but the position I got is way above what I thought I would get anywhere for several years and it will look damn good on my CV if I work there for a few years.

I am not willing to "rock the boat" too much... I basically feel I got a foot between a door I didn't think I would enter in ages, so the job takes a massive priority right now.

I will know for sure at late August.

I need some definitive answer as to how many people are willing to be part of the villa :)

At the moment, it's just me, you and Harri atm :)

This is still the one atm. :)

Great news Harry!

Im thrilled for the opportunity to be part of a GPRO meeting in my city and host for all of you guys!

But i shouldnt contact Indoor Karting Barcelona until we know for sure how many people will participate. Theres plenty of time though i think, but if i remember correctly we need 10 people at least to book it. I will check that.

About covid, 5th wave has slowed down for couple of weeks now and total people vaccinated are clearly over 70%. There are some restrictions that could limit our activities in some way, but considering were 2 months away from the meeting, these restrictions should be eliminated by then.

So people interested in joining let us know. I think that weekend will be unforgattable!

Is it worth looking at a smaller villa @Jun Ho (A52) ? Or failing that, I'll book into the admin hotel :)

The one we are currently looking at. If 5 guests, then it is £1,225 for the 4 nights from Thursday night to Monday morning. Split amongest 5 people, then it will be £245pp, or £61.25 per night.

Would that one be okay? @Jonathan Beagles (P20)

Yep but right now we have 3 guests mate...where are you getting these other 2 people from? :S

EDIT - Also I'm only there from the Friday onwards, so wouldn't want to pay for a night I'm not staying ideally!

There is this one:

https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/4665087?adults=5&location...

Not so much a villa, just a house, but it looks good lol.

I think we should just book hotel rooms instead. Which hotel is the admins staying at again?

It is likely easier mate - and no worries about AirBnB owners being flaky!

https://www.booking.com/hotel/es/ibis-styles-barcelona-centre.de.html

I'm going to book this now I think :)

EDIT - Change the language to English at the top of the page if your German is a little rusty ;)

Ignore me - I got a late Thursday night flight in the end...it's the Sunday night I'm not there for!

No sorry! Couldn't find any smaller ones that were within Barcelona, and a villa for just the three of us would be a bit too much in costs :)

Jun's hotel room? :P

Usually if you contact sports bars or pubs they are happy to have the business on a Sunday, when it's usually a quiet day for them :)

If I can get an upgrade to a bigger room, it's not a bad shout lol

But a bar near Ibis would be pretty cool :P

Quick search seems to indicate there are options - but I'll defer to Joaquin on where would be best to go:

https://www.barcelona-life.com/barcelona/sports-bars

Several in the list mention F1 :)
