Thank you everyone for the nice messages. It's a great feeling, I can really recommend it. :)

This season was pretty crazy, I think. We had 4 front-runners, constantly stealing points from each other. Expenditures went through the roof especially when it was clear that Roland and myself were running away in the standings, because it was not possible to relax for one race with the risk of being pushed down to P4 or worse by Gonzalo and Bert (and others, depending on the weather conditions), while Roland runs away with the win.

So it was an exhausting battle and I have to congratulate Roland for the crazy fight he put up after his misfortunes early on in the season. 2 or 3 races before the end, I actually thought he would give up because the gap was too big. Silly me. But a big thank you to Roland, Gonzalo and Bert, because I really really enjoyed this season thanks to you guys (and I swear I would have said this even if I hadn't won).

It's been a long road to get here and there are many people who helped make it possible. When I rejoined the game in Season 57, I walked into the chat and saw Miel Soeterbroek, a familiar face from GPRO's predecessor that we both played some 15 years ago. He immediately began to mentor me and recommended me to Andrew Wilden who gave me a spot in the Malati family right away.

I learned a lot of things about the game very quickly, thanks to the team but also thanks to many conversations in GPRO chat, mostly with Flo but with other people as well. Without those talks and the long-term perspectives they gave me, maybe I wouldn't even have played this game for 20 seasons.

But mostly this is thanks to the team. In Season 67 I signed my current driver and I was going to try to take him to Elite and hopefully be able to put up a meaningful push season there. I had no idea if I would succeed at winning a title, but at that time I was already very determined that one day I would do it, with this driver or another one, but definitely with the Malati team. Because I was convinced that we were good enough if we just kept working. :)

So a special shout-out to Brad and Diogo for the tool development, Twig and George for finding out what it's like to race in Elite before I got here, and to all those who spent countless practice laps just because Jasper said he wanted data, to Wouter for watching my race over his (:P) and to everyone who is active in our chat every day, which is what makes the team what it is.

To everyone else, I say: 20 seasons, it can be done. It may take an unhealthy amount of time, but it can be done. :) And now I can finally go to sleep...

If those on the outside knew of your tireless FOBY efforts and exhaustive strategy discussions (to say nothing of the numerous background operations), then they would understand what we in Malati know: that no one could deserve this championship more than you.

It's been a pleasure being your teammate. Thank you and congratulations.

Congratulations Jasper. Roland didn't let up until the end but you held it together, a great title race and a worthy winner!

As Brad said, this is a richly deserved title not just for your own progress but also that of the Malati team and how much you have put into it. Since joining GPRO no-one else has been as great a mentor (though a few others chip in) to me, and I'm sure many others feel the same. Enjoy that trophy. I'm glad to know that my season of 0pts and relegation was of some value :-p
