After a relatively dull 1st half, the 2nd half is anything but! Malaysia come out of the break with an urgency that belies the fact that this is just a Friendly!!! Rashid opens the scoring with a pass underneath the despairing Toom after a Fazail ball is squared across the box.

Meanwhile, Ahmad is another to benefit from Fazail's unerring accuracy, as he rises high to nod down Malaysia's 2nd of the game. Ahmad then goes on to complete his hat-trick with first of all a piledriver of a shot from the edge of the box, before a neat 1-2 with Fazail again puts him in one-on-one with Toom, where he makes no mistake!

Estonia do hit back at this point, with Vassiljev leading the charge as he smashes a shot in from just 6 yards out after springing the offside trap, before adding a second through a well-timed half-volley that gives keeper Marlias and the outstretched leg of Davies no chance...and that leg was possibly a little too outstretched, as Davies can only hobble over to the side-line for treatment.

And as Davies time on the pitch ends, so does the Estonian comeback - before Abba puts the icing on the cake with a long-range shot that seems to swerve and dip in such a way that it completely foxes Toom in the Estonian goal!

@Lyee Chong (A61)
Davies is now injured, you need to PM me the name of the player you will sub-in or you will lose 3 points to your top category. This penalty will be reduced to 1 point for the 1st half of the next game if you submit the name before I simulate it.

Uzbekistan looked completely unopposed during the opening 45 minutes - though the 2nd half is a vastly different story, as the South Sudanese side who finished 3rd in the World Plate competition last season seem to re-emerge and put the Uzbekistan defence on the back foot from the get-go!

Nyuar opens South Sudan's account with a darting, jinking run that Komilov and the other Uzbekistani defenders are powerless to resist - before Pretino times a volleyed shot to perfection that Lobanov in the Uzbekistan goal can only watch with admiration! Pretino then sets up Athiu with a slide-rule pass into the forward's feet, which puts South Sudan 3-2 up...

...and despite Uzbekistan's best efforts and a late spate of attacks they cannot breakthrough - and worse is to come for them, as South Sudan trigger a counter-attack led by Nyuar and ultimately converted by Pretino for his 2nd of the game.

Not the start in management that Uzbekistan manager Holmes would have hoped for, though at least this was only a Friendly and the Uzbekistan side finish the match looking a good deal more fit than their South Sudanese counterparts...!

After controlling the opening 45 minutes, Canada start this half with exactly the same pattern - and even the same goalscorers...! Larin fires home an angled shot from the edge of the box, which completely evades Büchel in the Liechtenstein goal before Arfield rises highest to head home a Piette delivery from the side-lines that Büchel simply gets nowhere near!!!!

A 4-0 this match looks like a foregone cconlcusion, which is something that is determined by Cavallini intercepting a poor clearance from Büchel to deliver a knock-out blow to the Liechtenstein team! That said, after Canada let their guard down somewhat, Liechtenstein do come back to score a couple of consolation goals with Wolfinger (header from a Gubser corner) and Hasler (a powerful, low right-footed shot) getting what will be scant consolation for manager Morris.

After a stalemate in the 1st half, the following 45 minutes carries on in the same vein - though Kosovo look the better side with Muric leading the line from between the sticks and snuffing out every opportunity that the Czechs can muster...

...and that leads to the 88th minute, when an in-swinging corner is punched by Vaclík - but only as far as Hadergjonaj as the rangey Kosovan defender swings at the ball and sees his shot deflect off an outstretched leg and into the goal for a late winner!

A tight 2nd half here in Belgrade sees Serbia continue to feed Mitrović and hope the forward can use his physicality to hold the ball up and create a significant chance...and he eventually does, with a dropped shoulder to move past Otamendi and then slam the ball home.

The remainder of the game boils down to Serbia looking to hold what they have and deny Argentina the opportunity to equalise, which they do by holding the ball up in advanced areas of the pitch - and that looks to have won them the game for a significant period of time...

...until the man himself, Lionel Messi, picks up the ball 35 yards out and runs at the Serbian defence. He passes Rodić, Maksimović and finally Kolarov before playing a sweet dink over the head of Rajković to level the game up and ensure that honours end even here,

So if I simulate the Liverpool match and the final score is 1-1, the fact you just voted for them would make it 2-1 to Liverpool. Similary if Liverpool were losing 3-0, your vote would mean they lost 3-1.

Does that make more sense? :)

In the 2nd half Spain come out of the blocks quickest in this incredibly entertaining match-up! Rodrigo scores another piledriver from 25 yards out, before he manages to slip the ball through to Asensio to grab his 2nd of the game...and at 7-5 Spain look comfortable, so comfortable in fact that they start to take their chances for granted as they look to give a hat-trick to either Rodrigo or Asensio...

...and initially that does pay-off, as Rodrigo gets the ball squared to him for a comfortable tap-in and an 8-5 lead. However, it could have been 9 or even 10 if they had taken their chances - and that complacency clearly incenses the French side, and none more than Pogba. The enigmatic French forward starts to boss the midfield areas and a surging run to the edge of the box allows him to fire home a shot to make it 8-6, before rising highest from a corner shortly afterwards to shock Spain and make it 8-7.

And that leads to the final 5 minutes, where it's all France who have shot after shot, with only de Gea keeping Spain in the game - until with 2 minutes to go Matuidi puts across an incredibly tempting ball, which Pogba steadies himself underneath before hammering home a spectacular volley that levels the score at 8-8 just before the final whistle!

Champions League Round-Up

In Group A, PSG seem to be struggling initially as they fall behind to Benfica before the crowd urge them on and they manage to come through to win 4-2 - meanwhile in the other game in the group Atalanta play out a goalless draw with Dinamo Zagreb, although a bad injury for Djimsiti in the Atalanta defence is a low point for the Italian side...

In Group B, Liverpool are 0-0 with Napoli until the final minutes of the match before the crowd urge them on to a late 1-0 victory! Meanwhile Club Brugge hammer Lille 4-1 in their match-up.

In Group C, Juventus and Spurs play out an entertaining 1-1 draw while Bayer Leverkusen ease to a 3-1 victory over Lokomotiv Moscow.

In Group D, a lively 2-2 draw between Zenit and Shakhtar Donetsk pales in comparison to the drama in Italy, where Inter Milan boss the 1st half before RB Leipzig roar back at them to seal a late 3-2 victory!

In Group E, Ajax almost cause a huge upset as they lead Barcelona 2-1 until the Spanish giants manage to claim a late equaliser to take something away from the match. In the other match in that group RB Salzburg look far stronger than Red Star Belgrade, despite a late comeback from the away side claiming some late goals - though it's not enough as they go down 3-2.

In Group F, Bayern look peerless against Atletico Madrid as they run out 3-1 winners, while Lyon ease to a 4-0 win over Galatasaray in the other match in the group.

In Group G, Chelsea secure an effortless victory over Borussia Dortmund 3-0 while despite a valiant late effort Genk lose out 2-1 to Valencia in their opening match.

In Group H, Olympiakos lead the group thanks to a 3-1 victory over Slavia Prague - though mostly courtesy of Manchester City and Real Madrid playing out a 1-1 draw.

Europa League Round-Up

In Group A, Lazio look to be comfortably on top against Gent despite the 1-0 scoreline - though a late period of pressure sees the Italians concede a penalty and that allows Gent to equalise at the death! Meanwhile Rangers struggled to hold their own against Rennes, as they ultimately lost 2-1 to the French side.

In Group B, it's a dream start for CSKA Moscow, who run out comfortable 3-1 winners against FC Astana (despite a late consolation goal for the Kazakhs), while elsewhere in the group a tame 1-1 draw between Standard Liege and Trabzonspor does little to help either side's fortunes in the group.

In Group C, victories for FC Basel (2-1 against a competitive FC Copenhagen side) and a decidely less close victory for Getafe CF against AZ Alkmaar sets their competitions off to a strong start.

In Group D, Qarabag get the best start as they scrape a 1-0 win over FC Lugano whilst APOEL Nicosia and Beskitas can only manage a 1-1 draw against one another!

In Group E, Roma already look like the absolute favourites with a 2-0 win against the team that should be their nearest rivals (Braga) where they never looked to be out of 2nd gear! Furthering that belief was the dire 0-0 draw between Saint-Etienne and LASK, in which neither side looked remotely like scoring!!!

In Group F, Rosenborg are the surprise group toppers after their comfortable victory over FC Oleksandriya of the Ukraine. In the other game a real surprise, as group favourites Sporting Lisbon find themselves losing 2-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt in an even more one-sided game than the scoreline seems!

In Group G, Arsenal cannot seem to shake off Krasnodar until right at the end when a late header from a corner seals the points for the gunners. That is particularly important as the other game ends 0-0 to give Arsenal an early lead in the group...

...in Group H, Wolves look impressive as they save the best till last with a well-engineered team goal resulting in a Jiménez overhead kick that comfortably defeats Vitoria de Guimaraes. Meanwhile VFL Wolsburg and PSV Eindhoven play out a 1-1 goal to hand Wolves the group lead.

In Group I, Manchester United record one of the biggest wins of the night after a 5-1 demolition of Young Boys - while Malmo and Wolfsberger AC seem destined to finish 1-1 after an early flurry of goals leads to entire periods of monotony, though it is the Austrians who have the last laugh, as they score a late free-kick to take the game 2-1.

In Group J, Porto look to be having things all their own way against Borussia Moenchengladbach - though a late surge of goals sees the Germans come right back into it before Porto manage to see out the game 3-2. And in a similarly captivating game, it is F91 Dudelange who manage to defeat Istanbul Basaksehir by the same scoreline.

In Group K, Espanyol don't look capable of breaking down the Cluj defence for a 2nd time - until late in the half a brilliant run from the Espanyol forward triggers a penalty that makes it 2-1 before a wild shot from 35 yards out causes the net to bulge and Espnayol to claim the victory. In the game between the group favourites Dinamo Kiev and Celtic it ends with honours even at 2 goals apiece.

In Group L, Sevilla manage to defeat Ludogorets Razrad to give them a vital 3 points...albeit not without cost, as Carlos pulls up suddenly clutching the back of his leg in agony, which will be a concern for thenm. Finally, Ferencvaros and FK Partizan can only manage a draw in an otherwise brilliantly entertaining 1st round of Europa League football...

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15xECpIgWhJseyIxqIlGS...

Injury - Carlos (Sevilla/Brazil*)

* = This is the 1st injury for a non-Brazilian squad player, once this total reaches 3 then a random player will get an injury within your squad.

UEFA BOT Round-Up - Matchday 2

North/West

In the A League, a pair of mouth-watering clashes as Belgium take on France (#4 in the World v #1!) and the close rivals England and Wales compete against each other also.

In the B League, a thrilling clash between Sweden and Denmark is almost as intriguing as Iceland v Portugal as the other match in this group.

In the C League, two sides that would never have expected to be in the same League as each other will contest a fascinating encounter, as Spain take on the Faroe Islands in their opening match-up. Meanwhile the auld rivals of Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland (ranked alongside each other in the World Rankings with Northern Ireland just ahead) contest a bad-tempered match, which ultimately ends up with the Republic of Ireland belying their ranking to run out 2-0 victors.

In the D League, newcomers Luxembourg will take on Norway (likely group favourites) and both will know they will have to win by more than 2 clear goals to top the group - given that Scotland manage to secure a 3-1 victory over Finland to put the Finns in initial danger of having to contest the relegation play-off once we reach that stage...

Central

In the A League, Germany v Netherlands matches up two powerhouses of European football, while Poland and Italy will face off in the other match in the group.

In the B League, Estonia will take on Switzerland knowing that they will need to win by 3 clear goals to have a chance of topping the group after Austria comfortably defeat the Czech Republic 3-0 in a match that compounds the Czechs recent miseries...

In the C League, a much anticipated match-up as the #5 ranked Hungary (World Cup winners of course!) take on Liechtenstein, who showed well in the World Plate and proved themselves able of an upset or two. Elsewhere in the group Slovenia and Slovakia play out a 1-1 draw that does little for either's hopes of survival in this tough group.

In the D League, Lithuania take what could be a crucial 1-0 victory against Latvia (given that they competed against one another for the relegation spot last season), while San Marino may now be without manager Fuerte but they continue his great work by defeating Belarus 3-0 to move to the top of the group.

South/East

In the A League, Croatia will take on a resurgent Serbian side ready to try and compete with last season's A League Finalists, while Romania and Turkey will contest what many think will be the main relegation battle from the A League...

In the B League, the quality looks far less than last season, when it was arguably the most compelling group - with the exception being Greece, who face their first test against Ukraine. Meanwhile Russia's woes since losing manager Strizhov continue, as they see a familiar scoreline in a 3-0 loss to Montenegro.

In the C League, Kosovo will look to continue their strong run of form that saw them promote from the D League last season and more impressively reach the World Cup Round of 16 - with their first test being North Macedonia. Meanwhile Bosnia continue the great work of former manager Kakni by defeating Bulgaria 2-1.

In the D League, Israel defeat Cyprus by just a single goal in a 1-0 victory, while Albania have injury concerns but manage to get ahead of Georgia and hold onto that lead for most of the game until the lack of experience in the team unfortunately tells as Georgia grab a late equaliser for a 1-1 draw.

Americas BOT Round-Up - Matchday 2

In the A League, the USA make their A League debut and find it tough going against Uruguay as they ultimately lose 1-2 to the South Americans. Argentina and Colombia will contest the other match in this group in what should be an exhilarating contest!

In the B League, Chile will take on Mexico in a contest that sees two of the heavyweights in that group competing for the spoils, while Brazil are likely to have a far easier time against Peru - who are surely anticipated to be the whipping boys of this group...

In the C League, the US Virgin Islands (of course, shock World Cup Finalists last season) get their campaign under-way against Ecuador, though both are aware that top spot in the group is likely to stay with Paraguay after their impressive 5-0 victory over Costa Rica earlier today!

In the D League, Canada's new manager Melzer will lead them out against Venezuela, knowing that it will need to be a 3 goal victory to challenge Bolivia at the top, after the South Americans managed to record a solid 4-1 victory over Panama in their opening match.

Asia BOT Round-Up - Matchday 2

In the A League, former World Cup hosts Qatar will take on Australia, as the A League Finalists from last season look to emulate that feat this season. The other contenders are Iran and Japan, who contest something of a shock result given that the far higher ranked Japanese ultimately lose 1-0 to the unfancied Iranians!

In the B League, Malaysia will compete against South Korea with new manager Lyee Chong keen to start strongly in his 1st competitive match for Malaysia. Encouragingly for both of these teams the other match-up in this group sees Saudi Arabia and China play out an uninspired 0-0 draw.

In the C League, Singapore and Uzbekistan will contest what will surely be the battle for the one promotion/World Cup play-off spot in this group. Meanwhile in what will surely be the battle to avoid relegation, the United Arab Emirates manage to defeat the Philippines 1-0 to start what could be a season of misery for the Philippines...

In the D League, Hong Kong will be hoping to promote this season after narrowly losing out vs Singapore last season. They start their campaign off against Syria, while the other teams in the group are Iraq and Pakistan, who play out a dull 0-0 draw that will do little to help their survival hopes.

Africa BOT Round-Up - Matchday 2

In the A League, Nigeria and Tunisia play out a 1-1 draw while Cameroon and Senegal contest a 0-0 draw - in what looks to be an incredibly tight season already!

In the B League, Ivory Coast look a different proposition this season as they comfortably defeat Morocco 5-1 at home. Egypt are always a threat and prove that with a great 2nd half comeback to take a 2-1 victory over Ghana in their opening match.

In the C League, South Sudan have a significant amount of attention on them after not only finishing 3rd at the inaugural World Plate last season, but also having manager Harding making significant changes to his 1st team line-up despite their success on the world stage! They will take on Burkina Faso in their initial contest. In the other match in that group, Algeria do well to hold the higher ranked Congo DR to a 1-1 draw.

In the D League, newly promoted Madagascar impress against Guinea to run out 2-1 winners while South Africa look eager to move up quickly, with a 2-0 victory over Mali to put themselves top of the league at this early stage!

Luxembourg look incredibly strong here, as they look to comfortably have the measure of Norway. That said, the Scandinavian side hold their own for quite a while...though only manage to do so by accumulating a series of yellow cards to break up the Luxembourg fluidity. However, one of those fouls leads to the opening goal - as Sinani is fouled on the edge of the box and Rodrigues steps up to convert the free-kick with ease!

Luxembourg then go on to batter the Norwegian goal, with only Nyland keeping Norway in the contest...until the 43rd minute when Joachim slams home a fantastic Thill pass from 10 yards out that gives the keeper no chance whatsoever!

Brazil are huge favourites for this game, though they come up against a detemined Peruvian side who give the favourites a massive early scare that only an outstretched Ederson fingertip prevents. However, from the resulting corner it is Flores who rises highest with a perfectly timed jump to put Peru 1-0 up!

Reeling from that surprise, it takes Brazil quite some time to come back and re-establish a rhythm...though when they do they quickly put the Peru goal under siege and ultimately find an equaliser thanks to a Firmino piledriver low to the left of Gallese in the Peru goal.

That sets up what should be a fascinating 2nd half...!
