Such sad news that "The Voice of Golf" Peter Alliss has died at the age of 89

Having first appeared on the BBC in 1961, he was made lead golf commentator in 1978 after retiring as a player and has graced most tournaments on television with his knowledge, charm and wit ever since.

I for one will certainly miss his wonderful commentary and think he was one of the greatest broadcasters of his generation - Rest in Peace Sir

A true gentleman. Always had time for others and remained with his feet on the ground.

Peter Alliss was without doubt the finest golf commentator there has ever been and will probably hold that position for many many years to come.
A true legend.
RIP
