I understand that managers can make a planned relegation and plan to go negative to get to a lower division. It's their good right and can be part of a long term plan.
I see however a problem in the awarded end of season money. I think that only people who end the season with a positive balance should get the end of season money. If nr 1 ends negative, the prize money should go to nr 2 and so on.
I think this would be a very good change for managers in rookie who get an unexpected promotion to amateur with for example a 6th place but promotes because the top 4 ends negative. But I think it will be a good rule for higher divisions as well.

I also see a problem in the fact that during the year they take away the good placements and thus the money.

Good suggestion! If they're going negative, then do they really need the prize money?

At what point of the season's end is this accounted for? This season there's a pretty good chance I'll be slightly in the neg before certain bonuses are applied. However, once that happens I would be positive and promote to master.
Generally, I agree though. If a manager is going to relegate then they shouldn't get their position bonus.

I think the position bonus is one of the last things to be accounted for. I believe it's awarded after the reset but I'm too lazy to check the rules.

Position bonus is awarded before the reset, that's the whole problem ;)

Place honorarium is given prior to the reset, that is an entirely different conundrum ;)

why not just award it at the last step before the reset? At which point all managers with a N, Re or Rt beside them (if in the top 10) are removed from the bonuses and those monies redistributed to the next lowest manager who didn't relegate/retire/reset. Surely that solves the issue?

Reasons I stated above would be an example :) I don't know how difficult to implement this would be but if a manager will still not be positive after position bonus then roll it over to the next one down imo

Why not change that too though, Erik? Why does the position bonus need to be awarded before slashing the negative balance managers?
I'm sure people will adapt quickly enough to that change. Announce it a season in advance, and everybody' happy?

It does seem odd really that the points bonus is paid after the reset, but position bonus before it (and even before the relegation script). I would say it makes more sense to pay them both together really, i.e after the reset, then there's the added benefit of not paying tax on it either.

I do agree that it would be best to award those bonuses after the reset :)

btw... what happens in Elite with the championship bonuses?
So if one of us finishes 1st with like cca 6M, but have to pay 37M for TD and pilot for winning the championship, and gain 30M for P1 then who will be the champion?

I think Vlad clarified this on Discord. The person finishing first pays the bonus and ends up in negative. Trophy is awarded to the next person with a positive balance.

So the 1st one pays the championship bonuses only. okay, and the 2nd one gets the 22M, right?

He did, i remember that, but he wasn't so sure...
His words:
"The championship win and bonuses are for the guy in 1st who will relegate, but the first guy in positive will get the trophy"
But then...
"what I am saying is just after a quick look at the code, there is a chance I could be wrong though"
So i'm not sure anyone knows what happens if this ever occurs :P

This means that I can't....
Be -15.000.001 before last race. Lose all my driver's motivation. Get +10.000.000 from race position Get 10.000.000 bonus for finishing 3rd in standings. Promote with almost 0 motivation and renew my driver's contract before R1 next season.
What am I going to do with such a low balance after I promote? That's my problem I guess...

I volunteer to try this out. Everyone take it easy next season and try to finish 2nd best, thanks :)

for me any descent with a negative balance should result in a rookie descent.

I really don't think it should be that extreme.

but if I finishes second and should've in positive with that 30M end of the season bonus, but not with 22M that sucks :D (if I have to pay the championship bonus as well bcause the 1st one cant afford it)

Personally I don’t even see this as a small problem that needs altering.
