Month of Football 2023

---
Simplified game rules:
1. One day - one football match - every day of the year
2. Predict the result - Home, Away or Draw...
3. Every correct prediction is worth 1 point
4. There are monthly and yearly competitions.
---

Welcome to Month of Football's January 2023 edition!

The Rules:

1. About

a) Month of Football is a simple Football (or Soccer in the US) prediction game.
b) In this game you need to predict 31 Football matches during January 2023, one match every day. The selected match is usually in one of the most famous leagues or International or Cup Competitions and consists of the best-known teams but there will also be some from smaller leagues making the outcome harder to predict. A certain competition takes precedence this month !!!
c) There will be a match every day, no matter what. Football never stops, it's always possible to find a match around the world - until Covid came along......

2. How to play?

a) All you need to do is post ##Join, and send the outcome of the matches. Joining is always open, even in mid-Season. You need to predict, which of the two following football team will win (aka. 1X2, Home-Draw-Away and so on).
b) You can send in your predictions in PM, or you can post in the thread but everything will be public. Of course you can send more than one match at the same time, you can send even the whole month's predictions in the same PM or post. Whatever you want.....
c) For all predictions you can change any predictions up to kick off time. If you post or edit your post after the match has started, your prediction becomes invalid.
d] You also need to send a Tie Breaker... your guess at how many goals will be scored in the month. More on Tie Breakers and when they are needed by in Rules 5c and 5d

3. The Matches

a) The deadline is the start of the match. Check the Calendar's time column for this data- however the actual kick off will be the deadline
b) If a team wins the match in extra time or via penalties, the correct prediction is a Draw, because only the first 90 minutes are counted.
c) The match has to be finished, meaning no one would get points if a match was abandoned between the start and the finish of the match.
d) There are usually multiple matches per month, which don't start on time. These are delayed matches, and there are special rules for them (see 4)
e) In case of any dispute, www.uk.soccerway.com is the official guide.

4. Special Rules

I) Delayed Matches
a) If a match starts after the announced time, players have time to predict until the kick off time. The match is valid only if it starts before the end of the month. Exception: the last seven matches has to be finished before the 6th day of the next month.
b) If a match starts before the announced time, it's the host's discretion to decide to either switch the game for another one or declare the match void.

II) Forgetting to Predict
a) - If a players misses a match, their previous day's prediction is copied over to the next day .
b) - Each player can be "saved" this way up to three times in a month but cannot be saved twice or more in a row.
c) - Should any player who was active in the previous month fail to pick for the first 3 days their predictions from the previous month will be used. However if they do not #join or make a pick by match 3 they will be removed from the game.
d) I will attempt to post reminders for those who need to post - however this is not guaranteed and it is each players responsibility to make sure they have posted predictions

5. Competitions

There are monthly and yearly competitions.

I) Monthly competitions are the Month of Football Seasons.
a) A month is from its 1st day to its last day, the 28th, the 29th, the 30th or the 31st depending on the month.
b) The person who predicts the highest amount of Matches correctly during the month will be the champion of the Month. If there will be a tie, the tiebreaker will be used.
c) The tiebreaker is predicting the number of the goals of the matches combined. You have to send your tiebreaker prediction before the fourth match starts, otherwise you'll lose in case of tie. IF NOT ALL MATCHES ARE PUBLISHED BEFORE THE FOURTH MATCH , THE HOST CAN SPECIFY ANOTHER DEADLINE FOR THE TIEBREAKER TO BE SENT/POSTED
d) In the event of any matches being declared void for any reason, the Tie Breaker will be adjusted pro rata to the amount of voided games. For example... in a 30 day month if the original Tie Breaker was 75 and one match is voided then the adjustment will be -2.5 (75/30 * 1) leaving a Tie Breaker of 72.5

II) Yearly competitions are the Year of Football trophies.
a) Everyone takes part in this trophy, by joining and playing the game. Everyone's every result are summarised, but only the best 6 months of the possible 12 is what counts here. So anyone can win even with just 6 month's entries.......
b) In case of tie, the best result is what counts, then the second-best etc. The winner of the Year is the Player of the Year.
c) The 2023 Player of the Year will be the person with the most points through January-December 2023.
