Sent my votes, a pretty mixed bag, one or two really good songs, a couple I think will easily get through based on the artist/genre alone, and a few that I would say I'd never have to listen to again but are on the radio all the time at work so I think unfortunately I probably will.

I did mine, impatient now.... so you could all just pop off and do yours now... that would be great :P

That's the way, a ha a ha! I like it

I have only 11 PMs waiting now so will get into them. In the meanwhile, please keep on listening to all the semi final songs.

Will be interesting to see which will become a group of death :p

Quote ( Keith Partridge @ January 9th 2023,23:17:13 )

Because I am bored..... Playlists done

Thanks Keith! Not using playlists myself but I can see these could be useful to somebody.

Quote ( Ivelin Dobrev @ January 9th 2023,23:21:01 )

Surprisingly not a lot of the big pop hits :O

This year: 9 songs that hit the top100 charts!
2021 recap: 11 songs
2020 recap: about 12 songs
2019 recap: about 20 songs

I'd call the downward spiral a bit surprising indeed!

Quote ( Xavier Porta @ January 9th 2023,22:20:14 )

extra -1 , not allowed ?

I was thinking about it but not this season yet :D Let's see if next season. Maybe the rule would then be so that you cannot give the -1 in a group that has your own song.

At the moment missing votes from the below players. Voting has to start somewhere, it has to start sometime, what better place than here, what better time than now?

@Vladimir Valis (E)
@Jonathan Beagles (P15)
@Ivelin Dobrev (R140)
@Ricardo Antunes (P2)
@Sam Wrycraft (A51)
@Skyler Marsons (R41)
Sonny Long (can't tag him as he hasn't posted here)
@Keith Partridge (A51)
@Rumen Monov (R7)

All the missing voters were sent a reminder PM yesterday. And another reminder here: Not voting will mean that your song/s will be eliminated from the final.

Deadline to vote is TOMORROW on Monday at 20:00 CET. After that we will find out which songs go through to final and which get eliminated.

Quote ( Calum MacKinnon @ January 11th 2023,03:03:57 )

Interesting groups. Every one had at least one pretty strong song but also at least one track I could write off before I even finished listening to it. 99% sure Marvin sent the song I liked best out of all the groups, as usual :p

Interesting thoughts because my first thoughts was that random.org threw quite an awkward division into groups :D But it still randomized all the songs from same performers into different groups.

Looks like this will be another exciting version of a semi final here.

Currently one of the groups has five of its six songs within 4 points = just the votes of a single voter. One other has the same but the five songs within 5 points!

Then there's also a tie for 3rd and last advancing place in two other groups. In three groups the difference between 3rd and 4th place is 5 points.

What's more, every song has indeed got points so no one should feel left out ;D

Still waiting for 8 of our voters! Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road?

One group I was gutted not to be able to give a song any credit, as there were 4 great songs there...in another group, I genuinely struggled to give any song 3rd place! But I suppose that's the way it always works out :)

Friday you can hold your head
Thursday, Wednesday, stay in bed
Or Tuesday watch the walls instead
It's Monday, I'm in love!

And who wouldn't be since it's an exciting GPROvision day! Ok ok still waiting votes from:

@Vladimir Valis (E)
@Ivelin Dobrev (R140)
@Ricardo Antunes (P2)
@Skyler Marsons (R41)

Deadline is in about 3 hours! And another reminder here: Not voting will mean that your song/s will be eliminated from the final.

Then there's also a tie for 3rd and last advancing place in two other groups.

After a few more voters, this is still the case :D Quite much still at stake!

From last year, this is still the same:

Quote ( Mikko Suhonen @ January 15th 2022,21:37:05 )

A note on possible ties within a group: If two or more songs are tied for last final spot(s), then ties will be broken so that the song(s) which go through to final are the ones which gather a) most regular 4-pointers, then b) most regular 2-pointers, then c) most regular 1-pointers, (then most extra points but those will be the same too if a,b,c are the same) and after that if they are still tied then d) I'mma think soon of some other way to separate the 2+ songs :D

Only 30 minutes left..... sounds like some groups will have an easier time to go through unless these three players vote:

@Vladimir Valis (E)
@Ricardo Antunes (P2)
@Skyler Marsons (R41)

Also, waiting for @Ivelin Dobrev (R140) to amend his votes.

There are a few ties that could need resolving from these 3 / 4 players! I've got three tickets to paradise, per group, won't you cast your vote, we'll leave tonight 8-)

Today at 19:58:39
Today at 19:47:56
Today at 19:44:15

Deadline! So many finalist swings in last 15 minutes :D

Let's soon start the proceedings, I'll still confirm in my excel that everything is correct... the way how this will work, is that in a moment I'll start going through the groups and posting which 3 songs per group are the eliminated ones. First going through the sixth placed, then fifth placed, then fourth placed. So bottom line: you DON'T want to see your song and name below just yet!

But one moment, will post here when I start...

Semi Final drop-outs

So yes this is a moment to hype! Some players will get their heart broken, some will be over the moon. And we can all blame at each other for being earless in all cases. Btw I won't have enough songlyric liners to go through all the posting so that awkwardry will have to be dropped for now at least ;D

The 3 highest scoring songs in each group will qualify to the final = there will 24 songs total in the final. Meaning that 3 songs from al groups shall be eliminated now. Coffee is ready, so LET'S GO!

Edit. Great thing, no one will get eliminated for not voting. Thumbs up!

------

First off in Group A & B

10 points
Chris Adnams
A1) Christina Aguilera feat. Ozuna - Santo

13 points
Ania Piekarska
B5) Gogol Bordello - Fire On Ice Floe

No es santo! Thought our listeners, and gave Chris' first song an exit from this game.

Whereas Ania's fire blows out and ice melts in the ears of our listeners. The Slavic tune doesn't go through this time!

Then for some Groups C, D - let's send a couple away in each post

12 points
Skyler Marsons
C2) Lilja Peltonen - Nimesi

11 points
Jun Ho
D5) Burna Boy - Last Last

Skyler finds out that GPROvisn't with this song! That did make my tummy ache with the lolzers of so surprising Finnish language, but not enough to get towards the three qualifying places.

But then Jun knew what to expect when he sent that song, it totally goes just like it name suggests!! Burna Boy burns out quite soon in this competition and finishes, how do you say, last last.

Who's dead in groups E, F?

18 points
Marvin Mackenberg
E2) Isiliel - Koumyou Kishi

15 points
George Togas
F6) Gleb Filipchenkow feat. Remo - No More

Did anyone else translate what does Koumyou Kishi mean? Dunno, but something about knights. What an interesting music video, but nope no cigar for Marvin and his highest BPM of the game here!

NO MORE!!!!! NO MORE!!!! Cried our players when they heard George's other song. Too bad because I nodded along.

G, H, those groups see these songs out

5 points
Skyler Marsons
G3) Maëlle - Encore

16 points
Cameron Halsall
H1) Psychedelic Porn Crumpets - Bubblegum Infinity

No more encore needed for Maëlle here! Another one that isn't in the final. And that means unfortunately that Skyler is the first player out of the final with both of his songs.

Cameron's music video apparently has made most voters nauseous, as the points didn't rack up on his account! But how fuzzzzzzzzzy was that guitar eh?

Then for another round! We need to cut more from our final.... where's my axe? But look look look for Groups A, B here

32 points
Sebastian Jóźwiak
A3) Armin Van Buuren feat. Philip Strand - Roll The Dice

17 points
Ricardo Antunes
B4) Tomoya Ohtani feat. Kellin Quinn - Break Through It All

Considering that last season some songs went through by only 22 points, then look at that!!!11!! Sebastian goes out with 32 points scored - and there is still one more song with even higher points to be eliminated from Group A! Now guess how close and how much this swinged in these last couple days. Tough luck for Seb, but he rolled snake eyes here and goes out of the final by only a couple points!

Whereas for mr. Sonic it wasn't just thaaaaat close. Still a decent amount of points! Ricardo tried his best by bringing in one of Ivelin's favourite singers? :D

I hear you shout C, D

21 points
Xavier Porta
C1) Arch Enemy - The Watcher

13 points
Keith Partridge
D2) Bonnie Raitt - Just Like That

Xavier watched, and watched, and watched, and watched some more but only saw the vote trails go to some other place in group C! Arch Enemy's biggest nemesis this time was....... itself? Liked that guitar in chorus!

And just like that, out goes Keith with Bonnie Raitt too. The fifth placed song scoring only 13 pts does mean the top4 in group D shared a big amount between them. But man was this a close group too.

Halfway through with the eliminations!

24 points
Calum MacKinnon
E5) Cypecore - Rise

16 points
Mikko Suhonen
F2) Snuff - Green Glass Chippings

No android in the world could save Cypecore in this game this time - it looked to go through earlier but got stuck in the gates after all. Calum down with one of his songs too!

And believe it or not - but the host can get his song/s eliminated too! Think it's only my first time in the four years of these editions surprisingly :D But how on Earth could people not relate to the Best Album Name of 2022 that made me submit this (along with that speeeeeeeeeeedy album cover):

Crepuscolo dorato della bruschetta borsetta calzetta cacchetta trombetta lambretta giallo ossido, ooooooh cosi magnifico!
