Hey guys, there's free steam keys of PID being given away right now, I don't wanna sound like I'm advertising, but I found this on Reddit, and I am very excited.

Origin is offering huge discounts too, are summer sales/seasonal sales a fix event? :)

Hey everyone.

I'm waiting for F1 2021 to go onto the market on steam, then I'll buy it. In preparation, I'm just thinking about steering wheel setups. They seem expensive...is there some kind of cheap option for wheels that still get the job done for beginners?

Depends on what your budget is.
If possible, get Fanatec I would say. But that would be overkill for f1 2021 I would think.
The Logitech g27 was awesome for a beginner wheel but is discontinued.
Thrustmaster has some good wheels as well I think. No experience with those.

I did see a g27 at the local second hand store. It was a little pricey!

Will look into the fanatic.

Logitech G series (27 / 29 / 920) would be the best bang for your buck.

You can buy just cheap crap but thats a true lottery if it works, works well, or breaks within 6 months :(

Are the F1 games worthwhile?
Or should a new sim racer dip their toe in other games?

In my opinion, yes, but while you're at it, I'd wait for the new F1 game. It'll release next month.

F1 2020 was kind of cool, would say it would be worth a pickup for the single player career move, but rFactor2, Assetto Corsa Competizione and Raceroom Racing Experience for the online/competitive multiplayer stuffs :)

I have never played them because they are to arcade for me. They always say how realistic they they are but I think that is just plain wrong.
Have a look at Assetto Corsa Competitizione on steam (sometimes on sale), or Iracing. But that is a but expensive. You can always just get the 3 month trial I suppose.

So far I have been racing with a Microsoft Sidewinder FF wheel (really the bottomest of bottom shelves), but now I am thinking of switching to Logitech Driving Force GT because it is not as expensive as the G27/G29's, they are more like half that price.

As for the games, I am playing Project CARS, because it is the newest game that supports my old steering wheel and I love that games. Back in the day, I used to play F1 mods in rFactor, since that was the best simulator back in the day.

The Logitech DFGT served me incredibly well for many years before it finally died a death. Considering the use I got out of it probably best wheel I had really. Price on those bad boys would be great now I imagine but not sure what the compatibility would be on more recent games.
