I wonder what is going to happen to Ferdinand, Giggs, Van Persie, and whoever the other players were shouting at the ref after the whistle? and of course Ferguson.
They'll probably be sent round to your house for a cup of tea and a severe talking to!
If you lift your leg you've got to be aware of your surroundings.
OK, Sherlock, there was an attempted overhead kick in the Premier League on the weekend, and the player copped a good one right on the jaw; I think that it was Crouch with the overhead kick. Did he get sent off?

I haven't seen it... But if the head isn't lowered then he probably should have, yes?
Dangerous play is dangerous play, regardless of intent.
Football is not a sport where you can just kick people about...
Fact is United are out. Nani got a red and Mourinho and Ronaldo seem to know they are coming to Old Trafford again and more than likely for a long time as well.
12 pts clear in the League, Chelsea in the FA Cup. 2 titles to win.
whole world saying its not a red card, including opposition players and coach. YET, 2 know-it-all's from this forum are saying opposite as always. you seriously must be having great lives

So what if you kick someone in the leg? Its dangerous.
Deliberately, you run the risk of getting sent off?
Accidentally, if it's late, like Nani's one was you get booked. But Nani was high as well, another yellow. Two different yellow card offences make a red card challenge.
btw HUGE respect for both Ronaldo and Mourinho for their actions in and after game. I really hope they are coming to Old Trafford for a long stay in season or two :)
Doesn't matter what he is looking at this: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BEn4FpjCQAEiu0m.jpg is dangerous and is deserving of a red card, he kicked him in the chest, that's where all the important stuff is.
Just a statement by a neutral on the red cad decision...
I saw the challenge by Arbeloa live and noticed that he got to the ball first by the direction that the ball went. Seeing it on a replay I could definitely tell there was illegal contact by Nani. However it was also obvious that Nani had no intention whatsoever of hitting Arbeloa in the first place as he was fully concentrated on the ball. And so I dismissed the collision as a yellow card. I was extremely shocked to see a red card was awarded. I continued to watch several replays of the incident still not believing a red card was given. However, in one of those replays I suddenly noticed something that did not look right. I noticed Nani, after the initial contact, follow through with his right leg as he was falling down. I can not claim that was intentional either, it might have just been the natural body motion as a reaction to the fall. But I thought that if the referee had given red, that this might have been a fair reason, or at least more acceptable than what is obvious at a single glance. Now, I personally still claim the correct decision to have been a yellow, but after careful examination the decision of the referee in this case was not without reason. I think we are being too harsh on him, his decision was not so abnormal as some seem to be making it when everything is taken into account.

You are having a laugh. Its the same offense, not two separate offenses, regardless of how you may want to portray it. Its like saying that a cyncial foul is always a red card because it is: a) cynical, and b) late
The reff kill the game...this was one great match and this ref just kill it with the red card...Nani can't see coming Arbeloa and this can't be a red card...Yellow yes,but red...Just you need to be really stupid to show red card in match like that...
And,football need to be a MEN game,it's can't be clean from this tackings...
How in the hell people still say what Nani did was fair? You put your foot on someone's heart almost and you expect a yellow? No matter if his eyes where related to the ball that action can't be simply a yellow.
And I still think that United with 11 man would have won the match but that's a different case. And Diego Lopez, way much better then Casillas for sure. Hero of the match.

Oh please Lukas. Let's be objective. That is not an ordinary tackle, and it was hell dangerous.
And yes, Nani then try to make the injury one after his Kung-Fu kick there.
Why sir. Ferduson, after Nani was sent off, waited so long to make any changes to the game. I see it as tactical mistake. Welbeck was already tired, Giggs is 39, first half was superior but second was too slow. And as a team ManU gave too much away after first goal. And Ronaldos second goal was absolute defending error. I don't say anything about Nanis red. This is football, you can't choose referees, and you have to play all 90 min. In the end i think Real could score even without this red.

You obviously watched a few slow motion replays. Did you watch a real speed one to see at what point Nani saw the guy and how much time he had to retract his fully stretched out leg?
If this incident happened with both players facing each other, it could have been the right call. But when Nani only sees the other guy after making contact... its one of the worst decisions i've seen recently.
