Careless challenge, studs WAY up, got the player not the ball. Intent is irrelevant. It's a red every time.
And, Rafael got away with handball on the line.
It's always the refs fault, or UEFA's fault, or the FA's fault, or even the fixtures' fault when United lose. No class.

I personally cannot see what United fans are moaning about....
If they are moaning about the referee's decision to dismiss Nani, Wasn't it Fergie that stated that these things even themselves out over a season ?
On to the next round of the Champions League, some quality teams left in there, who deserve to be there...

Fair point, but a separate case and not relevant to whether Nani deserved red. Why wasn't Rafael sent off or Real given a penalty?
So it should've/could've been 10 on 9. United was not robbed of anything.

UEFA has stated that they have no problems with the red card and shows their support for the referee Cüneyt Çakir, he's still on their list for upcoming matches.

That the same UEFA that had no problem with Henry hand balling against the ROI and backed that ref?

Cuneyt Cakir, has done good work in Euro 2012 as well. He was one of the best even. You can't judge a referee for one decision.
In Turkey, he's known for his good temper especially in derbies where big teams of Turkey play, Besiktas,Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.
He is a good referee imo.
Last night there were a lot hard decisions to be taken and he did a good job imo.

Indeed, in that atmosphere at OT, most refs wouldn't have the guts to make the right call. Cakir did and UEFA is right to stand by him.

Well, the Vidic incident looked even more careless to me. That should've been red too.

There were several appeals for penalty for United as well. Not sure if how accurate those appeals were ... Just saying that Real's penalty shout wasn't alone.

For someone used to refereeing the Istanbul derbies, I think he found the OT atmosphere quite pleasant. :P

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bayern vs Dortmund in the final!
With the knockout of Man Utd, who were at their peak, I see Bayern (also at their peak this season) in the final... Also Real Madrid have a chance to be in the final & Dortmund are doing their best in CL - maybe in Bundesliga they're not on top, but imo they deserve to go to finals in CL!

Yeah, if that happens...
Teams qualifying for sure:
-Real Madrid
-Dortmund
-Juventus
-PSG (most probably)
-Bayern (unlikely to lose 3-0 at home :p)
-AC Milan (With their 10-0-0 formation, i don't see Barcelona scoring)
-Shalke/Galatasaray (Not very sure about those teams)
-Porto (seem to be doing better than Malaga)
