Congratulations Martin – very well played. I forgot the rules regarding village stealing, and your last move gave you total control. I think you are going to win anyway, because you were one pagoda ahead of me but your last move was great.
Dude, thanks for hosting a great game and taking the time to do this. It was fun and you made a great spreadsheet for this game.
Decide to do it again I will join. My only suggestion is I believe the game is better with 3 players. It moves faster and it seemed to be a closer contested game with only 3. With 4 players I can't imagine the other two were very excited because they got so far behind so early. It is very hard to get more than 1 or 2 tiles ahead when only three players.
Anyway, the game was great and cheers all the players and thanks again Ivelin.

I get your point about the 4 players vs 3 players but there is a luck part involved and George in particular had horrible luck with his tiles. On the other hand, you and Martin had more doubles. In fact, I think the best player in the final was Ania as she made some great moves, while not having the best tiles.
With that said, whether we will play with 3 or 4 players per board will depend on the number of players.
Ideally, we will get 16 players which makes 4 boards x 4 players.
My goal is to make the first place be more important than just qualify, so the format will be the following:
4 groups of 4 players
The 4 winners go to the 1-4 final
The 4 runners-up go to the 5-8 final
The 4 third place finishers to the 9-12 final
And the 4 last places to the 13-16 final

We are all noobs in this game,but i will give an opinion about it anyway...
Think that Ania had a very good 2nd part of the game,she was the one that put me in trouble and in a way delayed my victory,i was quite lucky with the tiles i got and always had a good one.She took away a province and a village from me,at that stage i thought that had better moves to do and didnt defend them although i could have done it.But think building so large provinces at first,made her lose time and pagodas in the beginning.Although thats a very subjective opinion as i dont know what tiles she had at that stage...
For sure i will play again and defend the title,i really enjoyed a lot playing Qin....

I agree that the 3 person games seemed much faster, although I think Ivelin had a little less time recently so this may be connected as well. I myself stalled at least twice because I didn't notice it's my move and didn't get a reminder message. Tthat's not a complaint in any case, I wouldn't require Ivelin to be there every minute of course, just stating there was a difference between QF and finals.

I think it's quite random how many players are in a position to try to win. In our QF it was close, but in Martin's QF it was completely one-sided. My SF was also one-sided, with 3 people much behind.
In general, my only complaint about the game is that it's too random. Not that it makes it bad, but I'd rather see a points-based tournament than a cup one, since one can drop out just because of pure bad luck.

Thanks! It's nice to hear it. I started with bad tiles, but I think I got quite nice ones later on. There were a couple of moves when I felt like "wow, that's a nice find" but I'm aware of one or two stupid errors as well.

Think that there are advantages and disadvantages playing the game as Ivelin says,only the winners of the groups going to the final...
The obvious advantage will be that it will make the game faster and more dynamic...
The disadvantage is that it will also make the game more random and even if you play really well if you have bad tiles you wont have a defence and you will be completely out of top positions,luck will be more involved...
But suppose that you cant have it all,and Ivelin will have to decide what weighs more and its better for the game....I rather go with 2 qualyfying as it gives you more chance to defend yourself if you are unlucky with your tiles,but the other one i see it as a good option as well.....

I like the idea of making it a league instead of a knockout. However, that would mean it will take longer to complete a season. So we have to consider that.

Is there a fixed number of each colored tile per game? Example: is there a limit on the number of "B B" tiles available? Or is that random and it changes every game?

12 of each type, so 72 in total.

I keep count on them,always Vin....nothing definitive,but at least it gives you a percentage of chances of what others can have and maybe you can limit the mistakes,and more towards the end...

I kept track of them in QF and SF but never used that information so I stopped it for Final round.

Wow, that game was insanely frustrating for me. After the first few moves I felt like there was pretty much nothing I could do based on my tiles and there was rarely a single tile available for me to take advantage of. Ania made some great moves, including taking one of my 3 square provinces with 2 of her 2 square provinces.
