Unlike last year, this Final of the Players' Cup will not end in a straight 2-0. Singapore was leading 2-1 but his final big push in the fourth set was tied by Mauritius. This might have been the first ever 7-7 set of GBT! Mauritius equalized late to get his total up to 1.5, needing just another tie before Singapore wins twice. But it's not over yet!
Deadline for Match #3 of the Final is Friday 22:00.

6-6 and 0-0 were elements of an exciting 2-1 between Grant Crouch and Thomas Upton, the late-Season 2 debutant defeats the number one and makes it to the Semi-Finals of the year-end tournament. He'll be facing Nate Lung, the top favorite of the tournament, but this wasn't a perfect start for the American, who needed a replay to overcome Greg Tierney. Vin Struder wins his first match in Sofia after an evenly contested 3-2 against Christian Anello. But the real deal of the round is that 15-skilled Richard Robin Paukson tied John Ibbotson despite being six points between the two. Is there anything the Estonian do on replay? That would be the biggest underdog victory of GBT. Ibbotson is two victories away from the year-end number one title.

Mateusz Siwiński misses the deadline, Shannon Fuerte is outbid by the four remaining players. Four points separated top to bottom, which could be more or less, depending on who had 25, 26, 27 or 28 Hard Skill to start with.

The replay results are in: no wonders for the Estonian, 21-skilled John Ibbotson defeats Richard Robin Paukson 3-1 and is one step away from the final of the GBT Finals, and that year-end cup.

I somehow knew that my second submission was not enough to get another draw. Congrats, John! Next time I'll find a way to froce 2 draws!

From 3 skills ahead, Nate Lung comfortably secured his second straight Final of the Finals, defeating Thomas Upton. And a hard fought match was turned into celebration, as Champion defeated Champion, by the time the final set had ended, John Ibbotson's winning match point meant the Season 3 GBT Championship for him! One final Clay match but it's the most important of the Winter... can Nate Lung become the best of the best, for the second time and surface in a row, or will John Ibbotson become the first player to win a Grand AND the Sofia title?

Not one but two ties headlined this final match of the season, and ultimately the title was decided by Nate Lung's dominant 4th set, which drained his resources enough so that John Ibbotson could win two sets, just enough for his first Sofia title. Starting with a Grand Title in Buenos Aires, then later his second one in Tokyo, this was no doubt John Ibbotson's year!

Quentin Rieg and Chew Kai Wen were leading after the Qualifying and their half was the more cautious in the Semi-Finals... although that was on Rieg, who didn't show up in time. Kyle Morris outperformed Keith Partridge but lost to the Singaporean in the battle of the two former number ones. This is Chew Kai Wen's third title in total, the first since S1 Ankara.

It's all over in Singapore! Despite the huge efforts and the home crowd cheering, this comeback couldn't be fulfilled. Mauritius played brilliantly over the course of Season 3, winning five matches, they are the rightful winners of the Players' Cup!

First final in a while, and in the grand scheme of things i couldn't have done any better in the final with whatever i had spent to win Keith. GG Chew

John Ibbotson is the new leader of the GBT Rankings (leading for the first month in his career). With 2880 points, he is the year-end leader and the champion of GBT's Season 3. Grant Crouch's 7-month-long lead ends after the Sofia Finals, he ends Season 2 in second place. Third is Christian Anello, who built himself up from a rookie to 13th place by the end of Season 2, then he gained another 10 spots to finish on the podium this year. Martin Irla stayed in the Top 6 all year, made it to all three Semi-Finals of the Grands and trained for all three skills and finished 4th. Thomas Upton was 22nd before this season but nine tournaments, four finals and two titles, both in the later part of the year elevated him into the Top 5, ahead of Vin Struder, Season 2 champion, and Richard Robin Paukson, undoubtedly the rookie of the year.

That's the beauty of these games - no matter what you do, you are always going to be guessing what the other player is going to do. I try not to overthink it and just hope for the best!
