Hi all,
As I am trying to understand the basis of the game, I am looking to the technical data of the circuit and there is one word meaning that I don't understand.
What is the downforce of a circuit and what can be the expexted effect of the levl of the downforce?
Thanks in advance for all your explanations.

It's mainly related to car settings. (wings) low / medium / high

best thing i can say is listen to your driver on the practice laps and adjust whichever way he tells you

Big downforce=Monster grip, weakling speeds

More downforce on your car means your car has more grip in curves but less speed on straights. Like in Monaco you would need maximum downforce possible and on tracks like Monza you would go for minimum downforce and full speed.

What Oliver is asking for and needs to know is in Mikkos answer for easier explanation perhaps
High Downforce = High numbers on wing settings Low Downforce = Low numbers on wing settings
start from there and then follow drivers instructions

Is downforce related to tyre wear.

You mean on the "Track Information" page?
I reckon "Tyre Wear" is more important :)

Is downforce related to tyre wear. No. Base wing settings prior to all the other factors coming into consideration.

I think this is what you mean.
Tyre Compounds The four compounds you can select are as follows:
•Extra Soft - Very high level of grip, but will wear very quickly. •Soft - Good level of grip, that wears quite quickly. •Medium - Medium level of grip, that wears at an average level. •Hard - Lowest level of grip, but wears very slowly. The wear of each compound can vary from race to race, and are dependent on a number of factors you will have to investigate (e.g. Track "Tyre Wear" level, Temperature, etc, etc...)
From the wiki.

Just to further the question on downforce, if a track setting is high, aside from setup reflecting that, does it also relate to wear level on those relevant parts too?
i.e. if downforce is high, will wings wear by a greater percentage by race end compared to medium or low?

That can't be expressed on the forums. It's part of the game you have to figure out, mate. Good luck :)

fair enough. Worth a Q but most things come down to the dreaded FOBY acronym.

Actually it's not a dreaded thing. It's what makes this an interesting and difficult game. The satisfaction of successfully playing by own management of all the elements, is why I am still here.
I'm getting better at it... finally lol
You might look to get a mentor for a little while. They can be very helpful. Good luck, mate.
