Téma: Do Not Pit at Race End (Weather) |

I'm sure it has been sugggested several times, but it's a funny thing about our forum search tool. Unless you are thinking the same words as someone else, whose primary language is often not the same as your own, you are not going to get a matching result.
So here is my suggestion:
[Checkbox] "Do not pit for tyres due solely to a weather change in the final [__] laps"
Gives the manager the strategic capabilities to stay on the track for the amount of time they would like to without compromising other strategic options, especially in cases where the rain could start and stop multiple times and they would like to handle those cases differently.
In response to someone saying that the existing "wait to pit" strategy is sufficient:
Quote ( Jeff Pumphrey @ June 19th 2012,22:30:14 ) Completely different idea though.
For instance, in today's race, I knew the time difference between running a lap in the dry on wet tyres vs running them on my dry compound, and I chose to pit right away, knowing that with the weather forecast, it was possible that it could have stopped raining much earlier than it did.
Now, it did not stop raining until very late. With this new strategy option, I still could have pitted right away with an earlier rain stoppage, but could have prevented an unnecessary stop on the next-to-last lap.
Just gives more control over our in-race strategy in unpredictable weather conditions.

Great, not only great, better than great idea :P
Meanwhile I must agree that it will remove the twist we have right now.

Too good to be implemented... Without it, it's kind of risk - put him to pit or not to pit - it's a part of the game, of the strategy, of the fun :)

Speaking as someone who just lost a race win to this - this is a bad idea. That would make deciding when to pit at the end a case of pure maths - and would substantially reduce the odds of anyone deciding to stay out in the event of a weather change - the odds of a late weather change is a heavy advantage to that strategy.
Reandomness is a good thing; it is a vital component of the game and without it strategic options would diminish, not increase.

Everybody will check it, and probably use very similar laps remaining...but, sure why not?

I guess thats what the "wait to pit if it stops raining" is for. And if u wanna be sure not to pit... you know what to do.

Although idea is great i agree with Santtu that it would make game a bit too easy. So far imo Wait to pit if it stops/starts raining is doing trick very well.

Anyone with previous data could work out how many laps from the end the break-even point is. Then once everyone selects this point it just becomes meaningless.

Rain races are shite. Until they improve the whole balance of lotto races I'm not interested in anything to do with it.

Im sure, beyond computing, that logic would have it that 1 lap before the end you would not pit. But that has to be adressed in a special way.

The "wait to pit" is not sufficient, because the question has different answers at different stages in the race.
No race team would ever ever pit a car on the final lap of a race just because it starts or stops raining.

This sounds to me like: "let make the game easier and more predictable!"
|
|
|
How about "make rain races less random"

But let's face the fact that if think kind of thing would be added, the point of this kind of weather(rain ending in last few laps) would be lost, aswell there would not be any strategy suprises as there might have been now. Because everybody will just enter number of laps not to pit, and when it's dry nobody will go to pit.

If this option existed I along with most people would estimate the break even point in terms of number of laps and time lost with the wrong compound vs time lost due to another pit and just use that figure.
It wouldnt add a strategic side to the race because everyone would be putting the same number give or take a lap or 2 depending on what assumptions you make.

Quote ( Gabi Damian @ June 19th 2012,22:34:05 ) This sounds to me like: "let make the game easier and more predictable!" Actually, it's "let's give ourselves a little more control over our in-race strategy" when there are unpredictable circumstances surrounding weather changes.
